Elon Musk: Force for anthropic advancement or self-serving con-artist?

It's not a truck.

But it is pretty near the coolest RC car on the market.

I've never seen one driving like it's got a pair in real life. Corvette owners at least put the pedal down once a year or so.

Really what it needed was a few more years of development.

I've been in one, they go fast and they turn super tight. Great sound, lackluster seats (only the model s has nice seats). Great view front and sides. Fun and roomy like any large two row truck. Loads of awesome features, many are pretty new so naturally they're also points of failure for some. And as they rust they are going to look cooler and cooler. It's definitely more of an urban assault vehicle than a wilderness workhorse.

The haters' value is to dog Musk so I don't mind. But if it's hate for the car literally it's just sad.

The most important thing to understand is children go wild for it and love it. And if it that isn't 100% important to include in your assessment, Principal Skinner meme.

I have opinions on trucks.

I do hate that excuse for one. ;)

Too expensive for the tractor, too expensive for the toys.

Probably fun? Or maybe the opposite of fun.

Heheheh.

Elon's big rocket exploded during a test flight a few hours ago. ;)

SpaceX’s Starship spacecraft explodes midflight for a second time, disrupting Florida air traffic

SpaceX launched the eighth integrated test flight of its gargantuan Starship megarocket system Thursday night. But rather than achieving objectives that fell short during its previous failed test in January, the eighth flight also ended with a loss of the Starship vehicle.

While the company was successful in capturing a booster from the rocket as it returned to the launch tower, the Starship spacecraft was lost, resulting in a fiery explosion and disruptions to air traffic. The SpaceX mishap halted some flights from Florida’s busiest airports for “falling space debris.” FAA-mandated air traffic disruptions were cleared shortly after, but flights leaving those airports are still delayed.

I wholeheartedly agree with exposing/doxing vandals!:gripe:

David Gerrold said something similar on FB yesterday, that he doesn't condone vandalism (but he hates Musk).

I pointed out that Musk is vandalizing his country's entire government.

As for the Teslas... holy crap, they're ugly.

I think this goes here:

Elon's WORST Day: Baby Mamas, Spaceship Crashes, Stock Tanks, DOGE Embarrassments & More!

Tim Miller and Sam Stein, Ive seen both of these guys on Msnbc Tim Miller as contributor and Sam Stein appears on Morning Joe. A couple of never Trump conservative hold outs. Its the small victories.

But is it a series of tubes?
When I've seen even a sample of one behave like a truck and not a super awesome RC car for manchildren, I will need to start reevaluating if it's instead a townie toy truck.

Does the screen that opens the glove box through menu interface at least get YouTube? If one isn't really driving driving, may as well skibidi toilet or something. No?

There's an interview with an 'investment manager' from US media you can watch on YT from 2018, projecting that Tesla stock will be worth $4,000 in 'just a few years'. :)

In the real world, Tesla stock reached ~$430 at its highest.
Tesla stock has split twice since then. One share in 2018 is equivalent to 15 shares today.

Stock splits are great if the post split value then goes up because the stock is more accessible to more investors. Usually, though stocks split when they are at a very high value and not when in decline. Apple stocks have done that multiple times since 2000. The last time it was at about $444 a share, split 4:1 to $111 and is now at $239. A hundred shares at $444 is now 400 shares at $239 or more than doubled in value. That does not seem like the situation Tesla is in right now.
