Elon Musk: Force for anthropic advancement or self-serving con-artist?

I’m still hesitant with throwing around the label “fascist”. Though I’d perfer to use the phrase “…but funded an authoritarian idiot instead”.
I think I'd question the "could have solved world hunger" claim even more.

So you think if someone just drops 6 bill then world hunger is solved forever?

Well, he thought in those terms or he wouldn't have asked the question.

Something made him want to pose as interested in the matter. Then when given a figure, he didn't act.

He didn't ask "are you sure that if I just drop 6 bill then world hunger is solved forever? are you sure there isn't more to it that I could set my genius-level brain to?"

He just backed away from the whole issue.

Doesn't really matter what he thinks though does it? The person sticking the blue plaque up made the claim that he could have solved world hunger, which I would strongly doubt.

Probably wasn't room on the plaque for

"Wanted to pose as interested in turning his Croesus-level wealth and genius-level problem-solving skills to a humanitarian end like addressing world hunger, but turned out to only be interested in providing a platform for hateful speech."

In some contexts (plaques, e.g.), one communicates through a concision that leaves out some measure of nuance.

Maybe "solved" could be put in quotation marks. Those marks could be read as quoting him, in the question he put to the UN, or as scare quotes for people who think world hunger can't be solved.

He asked for a plan to do it and got it, the ball's in his court.
From what I (briefly) read, he got a plan that would feed 42 million people, presumably in the short to medium term only. I wouldn't really describe that as ending world hunger.

This back and forward debate about ending hunger just reminded me that one of the richest countries in the world can barely provide food stamps to it's downtrodden!
It's a sick joke!

Why would you strongly doubt it? What do you think causes people to go hungry in the world today?

Okay, I don't really get it, you need a peer-reviewed paper or mathematical proof showing the connection between hunger and feeding people?

I'm sure you get it really. If "solving world hunger" has a meaning then it surely means to end hunger, everywhere, and if not for all time then for the foreseeable future. Providing food in the short term to what... 0.5% of the world population, surely doesn't qualify.

It is not principally a lack of money that is causing people in Gaza to be hungry.

I'd like to end world hunger. What would that take?

Well, here's how you could feed 42 million people.

F--- it, I'm outta here. Imma build me some spaceships. And Ru-ule at Path of Exile 2.

Oh, it's worse that I realized. It's the opposite of my joke above.

He was challenged to donate 6 billion dollars, to save 42 million people from starving. So the scope of his potential benefit was clear to him from the outset. And it was he who moved the goalposts and said. Well, if 6 billion dollars would entirely end world hunger, then I'd do it.

****
So, yeah, the plaque should read: Challenged to use a fraction of his great wealth to save 42 million people from starving, he weaseled out of doing anything by saying "I'll only do it if it will end all hunger for all time."

****

Add to that that he lost 30 billion on Twitter, the plaque should read "42 million people he did not deem to be worth five percent of his income, but he squandered six times that to make a microblogging site more welcoming to fascists."

There, does that pass muster, Manfred?

Doesn't pass mine; not concise enough for a plaque. I'll keep workshopping it.

There are no starving people in Wraeclast, only players who would rather play than eat!

What do you think causes people to go hungry in the world today?
I would point corrupt governments as the first cause...as in the cause affecting the most of the starving populations in the world...this includes the US and it's hungry citizens.

Apparently there are in total 8 Cybertrucks registered in Norway. The number for sale right now, used, on finn.no ?

Also 8.
