Well, today evening was a good day. Finally I found a friend who was also fan of Final fight, captain command and other street fighter 2. We used the Callus emulator to play those games. But the most surprising was that... we played it over the net. Yes it was absolutely awesome. That was really fun playing Warriors of Fate with him, and I felt so good remembering with a bit of nostalgy all the coins I wasted in those arcade pod when I was young. So, if anybody is a nostalgic person and would like to play those games with me, then you can MSN or ICQ me. I can tell you we will be spending a really great moment. And concerning the lag, I can say it's all right, even with a 500ms ping.

Here's a screenshot of my game with my friend... :) (tears on my eyes:))

Looks cool:goodjob:

Don't laugh, don't point, but uh, what is an emulator? I must be very stupid. I also never heard of these games... Man I must have been sleeping through these times:crazyeyes

Well, Ohwell ;), I'm quite surprised you never heard about emulators and all the copyright controversies and debates...
To sum up, let's just say that an emulator is a program that (tries to) will make your computer act as it was another machine. For instance a Super NES. It's exactly like when you try to imitate someone. Then you adapt your voice and your behaviour to look like the person you want to imitate, all right?
Actually, and in one sentence: a SNES emulator is a program that will allow you to play SNES game on your PC. Yes. Imagine, you can play Zelda on your Pentium/Athlon....

Now back to this thred, I was talking about a program that could (and would) allow you to play arcade games. You surely know those arcade pods, in the cafe and bars (usually next to pinballs). Now, instead of wasting your coins on them, you can play virtually for free on your own PC. That's what an emulator do. And to answer the other question you might ask: yes there are emulator for all the machines. Amiga, Atari, even Amstrad CPC, ZX spectrum, etc... I even found a Palmtop emulator! And a HP48GX or a TI81 emulator... :)

Wow... I can't believe what I am missing! Neat!

Now I am feeling some nostalgia... I have to get an emulator! Once I get my PC back, I will be searching for an emulator, and downloading all the games! ;) Cool. Maybe we can play sometime, if I have any of the games you do :D

Oh no, now I am going to be even more of a computer hermit...

Wow, that game looks a lot better than the one we played GK. So why did you hide it from me?

I never hid it from you, as far as I remember, we played final fight because it was probably one of the most famous capcom game (with the SF2 saga) but actually this one, on the screenshot (warriors of fate) is definitely my favorite one. It's probably the rom I play the most with all my friends over the net. So, are you interested?

Oh, ok, I thought you were hiding it from me. :)

I am interested in that one, it looks like a lot of fun.

Indeed, you have a lot of combos hits, contrary to final fight. There are at least 5-6 combinations (like down-right-up+kick) and that has of course different issues on the ennemies. They may be cut into 2 pieces, decapitated, or just killed, etc... I'll show you as soon as you turn on MSN again ;)
