Here's a concept for a potential end to the modern age and the game. I look at Stellaris like crisis you don't know what your going to get, or a AI race like the space race for potential control. An AGI like space race that ends with either a rapid descent into chaos, imagined jetson utopia, or a combination of both. You have no control over the initial negative action, you just clean up and build foundational steps to sway the tide toward utopia as the modern world melts rapidly or you use it as a tool to join the chaos and push for a domination victory. No turn limit, ride it out till you quit. The winner of the AI race gets to know when it's going to start and prepare, or the ability to send heavy chaos to someone else from your couch. Unintended consequences or boons come back on you.

Another potential outcome is the classic terminator scenario. But you don't know whats its going to be. Like the gates in Stellaris.

Or the AI race comes and goes and now you can ask it for anything in the world. When you switch it on, what's going to happen, you don't know. Or the AI allows you to navigate other potential crisis.

Another idea is multiple crisis simultaneously that affect each other.

A set of tech that could only be started with someone building the hydron collider. To quantum physics to the quantum computer. Which speculated to be needed to combine with the AI software model. An easier avenue could be unlocked after the first quantum computer is built. You could say they find its not required. AGI advances to Super intelligences which appears like a gene in a lamp.

Gene find me a better way to grow food. Air defense, medicine and genetics. Gene shut off the internet or just shut off their internet. Causing trade chaos, massive unrest.

This sounds more like dlc.

While I'm thinking about it, I hope Firaxis does not require online access at all times. Id like to play their game from my teepee while a potential Apocalypse is going on, potentially. Joking, aye.

The mystery is the hook. I think it would sell like hot cakes, maybe sell the base game and drive people to see what happens at the end.
