I was just about to finish my first BTS game, a shuffle map with continents on Prince difficulty, as khmer (random). I had by far the largest and highest tech empire. I was going for space race, and built a shuttle with all the required components and most of the optional ones. I launched the shuttle. Around the time the counter said *15 TURNS TO VICTORY* I decided to take that literally, and just for fun, since I was going to win anyway, I launched all my nukes at france. Well, 15 turns later, victory was befuddlingly absent, and then I get the message "space victory mission failed" or something like that. Well now I have to build a whole new space shuttle, but now I'm at war with france and all his vassals, all my sea resources are gone, I'm too lazy to fight another modern war i just want to win...

The point is, it sucks that the space mission can fail. how lame.

Thats why it says 100% chance of success when you attach all bits and pieces.

Well that's just what you get for slinging nukes around like they're going out of style *nod nod nod*

Funny how imminent space victory equals nuclear obliteration of France. I'm glad that real world Civ's don't think this way. ;)

"Well hell, we've just landed on the moon, better nuke our neighbors" (so long Canada) :p

**Wait a second, I'm from Canada**

That is a bummer for you, but it is a funny story. I haven't had a space ship fail because on my space race victories I always have a couple of marginal cities building the optional casings from the start. By the time the requirements are done, my ship is kitted out.

I've also read here about the probability of failure for not building them all and decided that it isn't worth it.

I have sympathy because I hate having a bunch of unused nukes sitting around at the end. It just seems so wasteful.

worst of all, i hadnt saved for awhile, and autosaves were to far back to be useful, so now i have to play it out. Not challenging as I utterly dominate the world, and my enemies cities are all nuked to smitherines, but just tedious and time consuming as my best coastal cities are all starving...
