Enemy attacks on own units are sometimes not shown

Quite frequently, when natives or the REF attack my units or settlements, I don't get to see the individual battles. I only get to know the results of the battles in the wordings at the top of the screen. Is this due to some game settings?

Yep. In options you have the choice to show the animated battles, either Attacking/Defending/Both/None.

 

[Fistleaf]

I already have all those quick attack/defense settings unticked. Most of the time, it's the naval battles that I don't see.
