I just finished my game with England, the last save is attached just right before India declared its independence. I played with chieftain and got the roleplay victory and had fun. Here's my feedback:

1 - managing such a colossal empire with only a few worker units is really frustrating since I have to move them back and fort across the whole world and I do not really believe capping the number of workers has much strong backing since they are simple citizens, I think it would make more sense to have the maximum number of available workers related to the overall civ population.
2- the scientific output was rather small despite the effort in building universities and libraries, especially compared to civ IV where it was never an issue with a low difficulty.
3- Having the naval units able to take cities make colonization much more realistic and historically sound compared to civ IV since it allows to mock the supremacy of the British Navy.

Was the 2 cities per continent goal counted @Rhye ? I wasn't sure from the table score recap.

Rhye, I am unsure if the scripted nature of the Viking incursions make sense. Because I settled Manchester on the Western Irish side of England rather than Edinburgh on the Eastern Norse side, Viking raiders are popping up in the sea between Ireland and the UK, despite not having a city on either island. It makes more sense to me for waves of Scandis to be generated (via script) by their cities and sent out to pillage from that point, so that from the British perspective, they would arrive from the Northeast. Just my two cents; unsure if this would result in difficult coding or if it is worth a look. Maybe if you want them to come from either side, the Norse could have an outpost in Iceland?

I think once a unit pops, the "normal scripts" of adversary AI takes control of it, so it wouldn't know that it has to send it to UK. It could go wander Swedish lands or travel towards Russia.
I think that's why it needs to pop close to the target land.

If they were spawned by Bergen, Oslo, and Oulu at once, they should hit England from Bergen, Germany from Oslo, and Russia from Oulu... or would these units all gang up and form a wave of doom directed at one victim nation only?

yes the points worked indeed.

linking the max units to population is not so straightforward to implement. I'll take a look

Historically the vikings either followed the wind currents south to Frisia and then to England, or the currents around the north side of Scotland and down into the Irish Sea. Easier seas to travel and easier coasts to navigate = easier raiding opportunities. The east coast of Scotland was mostly left untouched by the vikings.

If they can't see the city they're supposed to attacked, they could half the time just take a walk around and do nothing.

Thanks Mezzy. So although popping out of the blue is an awkward game mechanic, it rhymes with the actual British experience. Consider my gripe closed!
