Hi, I just downloaded C2C but I can't play because my game is in french. I saw most parts of C2C comes from the mod " rise of the mankind" wich is totally translated into french. I'd like to play C2C in french and the non-translated text appears in english. Now I see no text but If I swith to english, I only see english text ...

What do I need to do ??

thanks in advance:)

Sorry, I don't know the solution. I do know that we inherited the translations from RoM, and other mods, so they are there. I also know that not all the newer features have translations.

Thinking on that, I did notice that some things have text only in English with blanks for the other languages. Is this what you are reporting? IE some text is appearing in French but others are in English or blank.

The only means I have of making translations for quotes would be something online, and frankly I don't trust those to be accurate or make sense.

Many text havetranslations though - we just need to make sure tha oervlanguages are filled in with the English text by default in the absence of the translation, so that you get English for texts that have no translation, and not blank. That way you can run in the language and at least have partial translation

I followed the pattern for what was already established, so any quote I've done, I just put the same text in the other 3 language spots.

It seems to be more difficult than just empty slots in the text files for non-english languages. If you switch the language then even the opening menu will have no text at all (see attached screenshot). I have tried to find out where this starting menu text is found, but I couldn´t, it definitely is not in any of the .xmls.

Also the civilopedia is empty for 99% of the entries in other languages, even for those that do have correct translations in the XML.

If this overlaying problem could be solved we could think about opening C2C up for other languages...

Now that's weird, because in the Text that contains this portion (which is the Vanilla TXT)
has it listed in foreign languages (see spoiler)

It might be because i am using a different Main Menu option than the normal one also? I am using the BtS one?

I think the issue is not so much about the right text entries but about how they are addressed (I probably don´t use the right words here, I am no programmer and no native english speaker). Seems like C2C doesn´t find the correct entries (no issue with vanilla BTS).

In the attached screenshot you can see the civilopedia for units in german. More than 90% do not show any entry at all (just empty pages). Strangely enough some of the few units shown are translated and some are not. But all of those are not original BTS units! I can assure you that many of the units not shown at all do have the correct text entries in the xml.

There are also error messages that can be seen at the top of the screen that I don´t see when I play in english.

Has there been any progress on this? Having the possiblity to switch to other languages would be very neat, even if it were just a simply "english/german" (or english/french or whatever) mix for all non-translated strings. A lot of stuff already is available in all languages, and some of my MP buddies are not all that great with English and would be able to enjoy this mod more if it were in their native language.

Hi all,

I'm back in Civ4 after a while, and I just discover the mod two weeks ago. what a great job !

I have worked with Afforess on AND 1.75 french translation, and I started last week to fix the missing tags that are responsible for the missing text menu when starting the game in french.

Here the first results of my work : a french patch (based on v25 revision), with all the gametext files I have changed.

for now,
* most of the buildings/units/tech/promotion/... name are translated,
* I won't translate the strategy nor pedia (perhaps in the furur, but that's a very huge work)
* I'll continue with events, quotes, and test the mod too (I only achieve prehistory for now)

Is it possible to include the modifications in the SVN ?

How can we proceed ? should I provide the text files, or is it possible to have a direct access on SVN ?

Do you have SVN access right now?

Nope, i will see what i can do, it might take awhile. . .

Don't worry, i'll continue my translation job apart, and provide the files regulary, so that other french people can use them.

When someone take the time to merge all the files in SVN, it will be great,

otherwise, I can do it myself later if you grant me the access.
