Does anybody know if a Barbarian unit with enslavement will function?
Could a Barb. 'warrior' enslave to create duplicates or (even better), create an 'upgraded' Barb. eg: Barb. Spearman which itself has enslave to eg: Barb. Archer which enslaves to . . .

No, I'm almost sure: barbarians won't enslave. AFAIK they never became veterans nor they will enslave. I made a little test with 100 barbarian warriors with enslavement "on" vs 50 human warriors. No barbarian archer was created. :(

So the Barbarian archer was definately selected as 'available to' under the Units Tab?
What about if the enslaving warrior just creates other enslaving warriors (problem might be due to the 3 barbarian units only in General Settings).

Of cource it was. My own victorious warriors had !enslaved! some archers. Imagine this test without that ... ;)

Didn't testing this, but I'm afraid this wouldn't work too. I love the idea, but it seems, enslaving barbarians are still impossible. I also would love, if barbarins could get promotetd and build armys. But they don't.

Ah well; thanks for testing it. Looks like my Barbarian Pirates won't work either. :(

:aargh: I was hoping to have barbarian pirates capturing ships in my mod. Oh well.

Hmmh, make pirates an own Civ and set they in war with everyone... so they will capture your ships. ;)

That'll only work if he's doing a scenario unfortunately.
Are you sure? Why do you think, this wouln't work with a mod too?
