I know it's been a really long time since I have posted here, but I've been kind of busy. I'm currently in Mosul, Iraq getting ready to train the Iraqi Army to take over here after we leave. I've been working on a model for about 4 weeks now, and, except for the textures, I am finally done. I intend on entering this design into the Design the Next Enterprise contest that is being offered by Intel, CBS, and STO. I have always had great support from the Civ 3 community in all my work, so before I do the textures and submit this design, I wanted to show my work and get some opinions from my friends in the Civ 3 community.

I gave it a lot of thought. I wanted to keep the traditional Enterprise design theme, but I also wanted to put my own spin on things. In STO the Klingons have added carriers to their fleet. I figured it was only a matter of time before the Federation would field their own carriers, and I wanted to incorporate this into the design. I thought it was only fitting since the Enterprise can trace its heritage back to the carriers of the 20th century. I have a few more pictures to post. I am interested to know what you guys think of this take on the Enterprise.

Saucer looks good but the engine pylons don't meld smoothly into the nacelles. The rear shuttle deck just juts out of the engineering hull and does not look good.

I'll have to work on that. I was thinking the rear shuttle deck looked a little ********, but I thought that maybe it was just me. I'll definitely fix that soon. I'll have to give it some thought on the pylons though. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Here's a picture that was posted on a German ST Forum a while ago, as a proposal.

I think your design looks better with the long nacelles and the nicer saucer. I agree on the shuttle deck, though.

I'm sure you're familiar with the modified E class?

I think I know what you're talking about. Is that the one with the pylon and the extra torpedo launchers that extends between the nacelles?

I fixed the rear shuttle bay as best as I could. I also fixed the nacelle pylons. I tried to put the curves in there so they would mold into the nacelles better.

They look nice, must shop for groceries so I'll make this my subscription poast. Hope you stay safe and get the hell outta that hellhole ASAP. :wavey:

How long is this thing in Blender units? It looks doomungous.

You know, it looks alot like a Sovereign class. I named my sovereign class in STO the deRuyter.

I ned to either play that game more or cancel my subscription.

I will admit that the Sovereign class design had a lot of influence over this Enterprise. I wanted it's inovations to come from the missions that it will be capable of performing more than the design of the ship itself. I also looked at it as an evolution of the design. While it does draw off of the previous Enterprise, you can also see where it is beginning to take a different shape in certain areas. If you look at previous Enterprises, the designs are really just an evolution from the previous ship with the overall shape getting larger. I have no idea how long this thing is in Blender units. My vision for this ship is to be larger than the previous Enterprise. The Enterprise E was around 700 meters long. Taking everything into account for this ship, I would estimate the overall lenght to be about 900 meters long, and a little bit wider than the Enterprise E. I would estimate about 30-35 decks, so it does not have as many decks as the Enterprise D, but it is bigger. I think this would be a step in the direction of the Enterprise J from the show. A thought about the Enterprise J, I hate it. It looks like a huge flying pizza cutter with two warp nacelles on the handle. It's hideous in my opinion, and I sincerely hope that CBS leaves it in that alternate timeline where it belongs. There, I said it, now I feel better.

Do you honestly expect CBS to do anything except make a few more sequels in the J.J.Abrams timeline? I just don't see anything else happening with the 'Prime' timeline.

Actually, CBS does not own any of the rights to the JJ Abrams movies. When Star Trek was sold, CBS bought the rights to the franchise for all of the series, and all of the movies up to Nemesis. Paramount kept the rights to the 2009 Star Trek movie and and future sequels. CBS has not rights or say so as far as the re-imagined Star Trek goes, but they have the rights to anything and everything that they want to do with the rest of Star Trek. If they want to make another series based off the events of STO, they can. The developers of STO have to coordinate anything they put into STO with a representative from CBS. If they want to put anything in STO from the JJ Abrams stuff, their rep from CBS has to contact a rep from Paramount and ask for permission to use the material in STO. If CBS wanted to milk the Trek cow anymore, their only good option would be another series based in the prime timeline, and that's pushing it.

I gave the fighter a little more edge. I've been sitting here for a week trying to figure out what would make it look better. I can't believe the solution was something so simple. Tell me what you think.

Looks rather Battlestar Galactica-y to me, which may be fine. It certainly looks human but not necessarily Federation. I would maybe round off the nose some more, bring the wings in and but some nacelles on it. Starfleet loves nacelles.

Nacelles are sitting underneath it.

Nacelles are sitting underneath it.

Well, I'd make them more biggerer and easy to hit with a phased-polaron beam.

Edit: Huh. I swore we had a .
