Actually your sentence "je ne fais pas" is slightly and grammatically incorrect here. You cannot translate litterally from English to French. In fact, "je ne fais pas" would rather mean: I don't make. So it would be something like:
Does somebody speak French? I don't make.
As for the hippo, maybe one day when I have time, since I'm quite kind and generous, I'll teach him how to speak and make sensible sentences Seems he has some problems speaking... Bah with 2 active neurons, I doubt he'd be able to do great things though
He ask if somebody on this forum speak's french.
I reply with a bad writen piece telling him that my frensh is still so moderate.
I ask him if he live's in France.
btw. Can't we just open seperate thread's ,or even forum's to "talk in youre language" ?
I basicly say that there are for ex. also a group of dutch speaking poster's here ,and that tey may like it to post a bit in their own language.
I have seen it on some other big forum's to ,some of them have an "international" forum section where people can talk in every language they want.Just an idea ,not that i demad for such a thing. Ist das nicht goed ja?
No it's not.
In the way that his sentence is written, both somebody or anybody can apply.
"Je ne fais pas" as Genghisk wrote, is equivalent to " i don't make", but is also equivalent to " i don't do". Both apply here. And both are not what he most probably wanted to say.
IMHO he wanted to write " Je ne s ais pas" which means " i don't know".
I'm a bilingual helpdesk agent... and english is only my second language.
