Ooh imagine a vampire castle near the little alcove-y part of Mount Romaira
That makes sense, considering that the first tier 2 buildings are unlocked in the medieval era, except the temple, that unlocks at the end of the classical era.
Having four vampire castles, all of them sending yields to your capital, would be pretty great for an OCC.
I wonder if they can be pillaged without DOW if they are in neutral territory?
Envoy changes seem less extreme than I was expecting. Honestly I don't think that'll be as much of a nerf to wide play as some people were fearing.
Looking forward to a Kongothulu secret society game...
I'm wondering what happens to a vampire castle in neutral territory if someone builds a city nearby. Does that patch stay neutral and you have to DOW to let your vampire loose to terrorize the villagers?
To follow up on this 'cause I didn't see Carl's further response mentioned:
If you want to start your OCC in the atomic era, that is.
I'm a bit slow and tired today but I'm having a hard time here. Just the very first one envoy bonus to caplital is changed, right?
You mean people were over-reacting based on incomplete information? Crazy.
In the VOD at 49:33 I ask “when does Diplomatic Quarter and its buildings unlock?”
At 49:41 Carl @ me: “Mathematics”
I wonder if the city state bonuses will be tweaked for the base game in an update, that would be great. Lower bonuses for T1 buildings and finally including T3 would definitely make them much better.
All 3 are changed. They are now:
1 envoy: 1 to capital and +1 to T1 building.
3 envoy: +2 to T2 building and +2 Consulate building.
6 envoy: +3 to T3 building and +3 Chancery building.
Yeah, I saw it already and had edited my post.
More info from Carl:
Also, Vampires cannot form Corps or Armies, so no Volturi army.
The one envoy bonus is now "shared" between the capital and T1 buildings - +1 each.
The three envoy bonus is now for T2 buildings and Consulate.
The six envoy bonus is now for T3 buildings and Chancery (and it's +3) - another good buff to them.
Thanks, I have updated it to make that clearer
I wonder what the yield of vampire castles built in a triangle would be like?
That should be 3 & 6 envoys not 2 & 3.
I liked the changes to envoys. It makes the first envoy you send to a CS more relevant as you build tier 1 buildings, but less impactful in early game. It gives a considerable buff to tier 2 and 3 buildings. Tier 2 still gets the same yields, but they get it with less envoys, while tier 3 joins the CS yields party. Tier 1 buildings get less yield from each CS, but it cost less envoys, so I'm not sure if I should call it a nerf. The Diplo district can give you a pretty strong city with all those extra yields.
It suffers from the same issue that other tall mechanics suffer: Wide can benefit from it just the same. It will help a tall player do better than before, but you won't choose to play tall because you want to benefit from something that you can't as a wide player. This is a buff to both tall and wide, so even though tall got stronger, it didn't reduce the difference between tall and wide.
So if I’m understanding this, say you have a T1 building in the diplomatic quarter and you have sent:
3 to La Venta
3 to Vatican
3 to Jerusalem
3 to Fez
3 to Bologna
3 to Hong Kong
Your diplomatic quarter gives 6 Faith, 4 Science, and 2 Production in one district!? This could be a major boost to OCC
If by incomplete you mean almost none then yes...
