Just thought I'd boast a little and share one of my funnest games so far...
EU3_MAP_KNI_1694710_1.jpg

Yes, I am playing as The Knights - and no, I did not cheat, except for some reloading. Difficulty is normal, no game rules have been altered.

In addition to what can be seen on the screenshot, I own Gotland and Fyn - and Friuli and Franche-Comte (as Imperial Demesne). Because, you see, I am also the Holy Roman Emperor.

... and soon-to be Papal Controller.
20090911223433.jpg

who has, as you have observed, converted his entire empire into one true, Catholic faith.
In economy department, everything is fine.

...partly because privateering is just so incredibly profitable (especially of you blockade every heathen and heretic from Black to White Sea), partly because my vassals are obediently paying their tribute. And there is quite a few of them - my House of Highlords feels like a proto-UN

How did I do it? How to vassalize 6/7 of electors in HRE and still survive? Well, the God is on my side.

Unam Sanctam combined with Defender of the Faith means, that I have spent last two centuries in one long non-stop war without ever having to worry about WE - and can continue to do so, filling my war-chest with goods of unfortunate blockade runners. What's even better - as I discovered, vassals do not bugger you with help requests nor try to break free, as long as you are at war. :goodjob:
EDIT: Well, I am currently fighting in 43th, 44th and 47th War of Knights' Aggression - while Oldenburg is about to fall in 56th one...
Never needed to build one ship: everything you see is either commissioned by patrons or taken as prize on high seas. Never needed more than those 24 regiments either. EDIT: I guess it is so far only of my MM games, where I've managed to avoid "Standing Army" and "Horse Shortages" penalties.

But now I am at loss what to do. Should I start an unforgiving campaign against remaining heretics in Europe and eradicate them to the last? (I already force-converted a bunch of HRE). Or should I release my vassal Iraq and then go on to a conquest spree in a general direction of India?

I vote India, for the lulz. :p Pretty impressive, dude. :goodjob:

You are a god...

What was your first conquest?

Thank you! I just might.
Perhaps a conquest of Italy is due.
I guess I am going to keep good relations with my catholic brethren...

No, I am merely His Sword against the infidel.:D
Cyprus, I believe. Venice was forced to release Crete and Grenada somehow got Malta, so I took these two too.
Then it was Judea and then Balkans.

Could have also captured Berber kingdoms long ago, but blockading them is more profitable and does not strain my AE.

Now you've made me go and buy this game! :D Since it's $6 on Amazon, I got EUIII Complete. The demo was tricky (couldn't get the hang of naval units), but I'll catch on sooner or later...

(I just noticed that, ironically, the seller was "Knight Discounts" :mischief:)

yah for some reason you can't load ships with people on the demo.

In the real game, you have to put the ship on the nighbouring water (they must not be 'docked' in the city.) and just click on the unit and move it on the water tile which has the ship.

Good call. :goodjob:And once you've learned some ropes in vanilla, check out Magna Mundi 2, which should become available on 2nd of October. Makes things about 200% better.

And I thought I was doing something wrong. :)

I've been playing around with the demo today - finally getting the hang of how you annex, demand tribute, and so on. At first (years ago), I thought "white peace" (which often came up), meant I would get stuff.

Unless you wish to do things that are fun such as colonising the new world as Venice, in which case I don't recommend Magna Mundi :p

Good job there as The Knights though, impressive!

I decided to play as some northern Italian kingdom, and wound up conquering most of Italy, and the HRE. Granted, I used some cheats just so I could get the hang of moving units around and moving around the map. The game finally crashed on me, though... I annexed the Papal states, but then Roma wanted to be autonomous or else it would force me to be protestant (1502AD).

The game itself(all paradox games) come with lots of built in inescapable penalties and restrictions which only annoy me and make me not want to play. Mod makers seem to think adding more makes things more fun.

actually EU III tended to have very open play with very few events and historical "push" so to speak (to the anger of many EU II fans who preferred the historical context and guidance throughout). PrinceScamp's point is that MM mod brings the EU II style play back in through historical events and other mechanics that restrict total free-form play.

Unless I totally misunderstood your post, in which case I agree with you that mod makers in general just add too much. I am having that issue with Victoria Revolutions mod VIP (Victoria Improvement Project). It doesn't matter what my relation with US is as Mexico, they will always declare war on me around 1850 (Mexican-American war)

The funny thing is that it doesn't. There really aren't many historical events at all. There are more events, but there's no real effort directed at keeping things moving kinda historically - maybe a little more realistically (a little) but there is no effort to change the fundamentally broken warscore system by creating annexation events, and such. It's just less stupid than the crap that happens in unmodded EU3/IN.

I didn't play it very far, but I didn't like that it would not let me colonise the New World as Venice, I couldn't even figure out how to make it so I could. Although I'm sure the mod is worth a second try.

I'm talking about things like tax and overseas and various other game mechanics that no matter what policies you take punish you inescapably, along with some negative events. Though it's more in my head it bothers me, once I start playing it doesn't really bother me.

I prefer the SRI mod - IMO, it gives a nice balance between the freedom of vanilla, and the realism of MMP :goodjob:

I bump the thread to see if anyone here can help me out.

My copy of EU3 is secondhand, which means I can't register it on their site. Which means I can't download the MMP 2 hotfix 1.15 from stupid Paradox forums here:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=439999
:cringe:

If someone could do it and post them here, I would be really grateful...
:please:

Paradox is possibly the best developer around these days - so much so that I really wouldn't mind going out and buying another copy of the game - at least so I could post there and thank ubik personally for this awesome mod, but I'd rather wait till HttT comes out.

I prefer WWM mod to Magni Mundi... I'm modding WWM a bit to, for the next version. Venezuela and Colombia have been edited and done, and I'm reworking Romania, Central Europe and Eastern Europe(exclduing Russia).

I suggest you try it out as well.

Tried to repeat my achievements.
Managed to bag some 20 provinces, get Defender of the Faith and beat Ottomans twice to 100% war score, before strained administration, furious powerful aristocrats (aargh! bastards went from content to furious in a blink after I finally got Unam Sanctam!) and war weariness reduced my monthly gain of manpower to 32. :cringe:
Will have to reevaluate my strategies...
War exhaustion is now much higher... and Unam Sanctam has been nerfed.
