EURO 2008 Final - Germany - Spain

Spain likes choking in the earlier rounds, but they've gotten over that, so perhaps they've gotten over losing in general now? :p

GER-MAN-Y!
GER-MAN-Y!
GER-MAN-Y!

Spain has a reputation to keep

Germany, so I'll win my bets

I want Germany to win, but if España wins, I wouldn't mind at all; they have played excellent football so far.

hum... the guys who win Portugal or the guys who try to conquers Portugal itch 200 years???
This is a hard choise...

Want and hope Spain win it but i bet those damn Germans will sneak it somehow, they always do.

Spain wins 3-1. While I'd certainly celebrate another Euro win for Germany, I can't see how they could possibly pull it off. Spain is the dominating team of the tournament and really deserves to win.

2-0 Spain. Germany lucked into the final, while Spain earned it.

How so? I seem to recall a game of Spain vs Italy that needed to go to penalties while all of Germany's games have been settled in regular time. Not that I wouldn't bet on Germany if any of their games did need to go to penatlies but so far they haven't needed to.

i am so hoping that most of you will be disappointed on monday morning ;)

on paper, spain is the clear favorite with their brilliant individuals and their tique taque style. it all depends on which players will neutralize each other or not.
podolski, if playing on the wing, needs to apply the pressure on sergio ramos. ramos was imo the best full back in this tournament, from both a defensive and offensive pov. hopefully poldi will take him out of the game and will be able to deliver some high balls to klose. same goes for schweinsteiger on the right side, while capdevilla wasnt looking as threatening on the attack as ramos. if we score, i think it's with a header.

but even if ger is able to take out spain's wingers, their central midfielder scare the hell out of me. iniesta - who looks pale as a ghost somehow- was so impressive when he played. always threatening to find that gap and play a deadly pass between the central defenders to find torres or villa.

then there is senna, who seems to initiate any attacking move and is overlooking the pitch brilliantly and anticipating so many opponents moves, before they could cause any harm.

as for fabregas, i dont know. maybe a bit too hyped, but still dangerous enough to outplay hitzlsperger or rolfes.

all in all, it doesnt look good for us, but otoh when was there a different situation?

i am glad we won our psycho matches against poland and turkey and hte victory against portugal was a great addition to that. finally a good euro from my pov after 12 years of waiting. anyway, bringt ihn heim, jungs :D

Our Germans here (in this site) certainly seem a bit too unfaithful to their team's abilities ...

I mean i fancy Spain to win it , i want it to win it but i do think that i can't predict that they will certainly do so. IMO both teams are quite able to win it and Spain's performance against Russia could be deceiving . Remember that Russia was a team that could play either very well or play not well at all like they did against England and Spain.

as for me, i am definately not unfaithfull. afterall, many things depend on who is on form on that day, luck :p and determination. i am just trying to pave a way for me, which won't lead to depression, if we lose :)

A modest proposal: let's be scientific and consider who's injured/disqualified for this final game, sì/ja? :)

Germany had luck. But Spain, not yet, played against a strong opponent (hell you can not think Italy was; Sweden and Greece, too, and Russia was not really playing). They did not have a crise yet. They did not have to egalize a 0:1. They are in the role of the favourite. They have shot 11 goals so far (penalties against Italy doesn't count) with 66 shots (can be wrong).
And now Germany. This team underestimated IMO twice the opponent. Once, Croatia, it went very bad, the other was a lucky win (although: as the Turks won their games on this way I found it a bit justifying to let them taste their own soup). Or wasn't? After the foul on Lahm the team was better. Not as good as hoped, but IMO better as the Turks. Anyway, they striked 3 times with 4 shots on the goal. Totally 10 times of 24 shots.
The German efficiency is much better as the Spanish. And here is the point: IF the Germans play like they did against Portugal and can neutralize Iniesta and Co., to be honest, I think Deco and Ronaldo were the better players, AND they can strike before the Spanish do so, the Spanish will have many problems.
However, the German team is doomed, if they let the Spanish play.
But I don't think they will do so.
I predict a deserved 3:1 or 3:2 victory for the Germans.

¡ESTE AÑO SI!

The partying after beating Russia was spectacular but I´ll be, unfortunately, watching the final in Munich rather than Barcelona where I am currently. But yeah. Go Spain, it has been far too long between drinks for them.
