I am wondering if anyone can please create and post a large Civ 4 map of Europe. I want to creat a WWII scenario like in Civ 2 but am too lazy to create my. Maybe someone already has one or can make one more efficiently then I. I would highly appreciate it and would maybe even post the scenario if it is any good.
I dont plan on making it anything special, just what was in Civ 2 since that was one of my favorites to play. Thanks in advance. :goodjob:

A large (not huge plz!!) European map/Mod would be a very good thing. I always loved to play on a european map on civ II ans III.

1 more selfish vote for an European map. Of course a mod with 18 european civilizations would be best and for our colonization needs, it would be best to include the northern part of africa and bits of the middle east for the much needed oil supply :) that would be all....

I have a large one that is quite detailed and looks excellent. It will be up before too long. :)

I tried playing on the "World" map with 18 civs starting as England. Playing that map as England make it SO obvious why the British tried to colonize half the world. They don't have enough land!

I've actually been toying around with the idea of a Europe map. I have a few questions for people who feeling like answering.

1) Do you want to see North Africa, Egypt and the Middle East included?
2) Do you want to see Iceland included, and as a result the entire top of Scandanavia and Central Asia?

A common map that one often sees out on the web has it's focus on the mediterranean while excluding Iceland and Northern Scandanavia. Another one is all of Europe with Iceland etc included. As one can see with the map of all of Europe, even once cropped, is that there is a lot of ocean water that is included by necessity so that Iceland is on the map.

The issue that forces one to choose (or not I suppose) is one of size constraints. The larger area you include in the original map causes the actual game tiles associated with islands like Siciliy, Crete and Ireland to be that much smaller assuming you stick to a max Y dimension < 128.

Just curious as to people's opinions. There are so many possibilities for what to include and exclude when it comes to a map of the Old World.

I'd like to see both, but if size constraints limit it I'd prefer to have the mediterranean area than the Iceland and northern Scandinavia. I'd still like a large part of Norway and Sweden though :)

Sorry guys, you'll have to be patient. It needs to be cleared by marketing first.

In the meantime, I can give some info and try to cater to some requests.

The map is 100x73 plots and includes everything from mid-Scandinavia down to Cairo and from a little ways past Portugal to the edge of the Persian Gulf. Do people want the map to be fully playable with all resources? Should the resources be balanced so every start is equal. Do people want to see the max 18 civs in historical start locations? I'll make the release version here based on what most people want.

I'm leaning towards balanced starts both for that reason and so that it's fair... it's no fun to play as Carthage with little fertile land and no resources against Germany which has enough food for a normal huge map. ;)

If the map is smaller than Rhye´s world map, 18 civs in their real starting locations should be great, if it is hugue most of us will have problems around year 1200 or so.

IMHO the starting location of the resources in real life are very important, i.e. Punic Wars were fought (besides political matters) for the control of iberian metal mines.

And if you put the real locations for resources , that will help for the developing of future scenarios. Caucasian oil, german iron, spanish metals and horses....

Balanced starts are great for multiplayer, but in single player scenarios people can choose the civ and the dificulty they want.

Thanks for your work Trip, i know i will see your map in many scenarios.:D
