This unit is based on the Austrian Bundesheer that TopGun requested. I think it is generic enough to use for whoever. I know the death is a little dramatic; I was going for the Platoon thing.

    Download the unit here.

Update: New attack flic, preview in post #24.

You're quick. Looks like I picked the right person to offload my models.
Australians and Irish also use the Steyr as their main assault rifle. Find a boonie cap and make him brown and you got some Down Under troopers.

Can I request a full auto or 3 round attack? That single burst looks like a helluva recoil.

That's an excellent unit, very nicely animated. The fidget is nice and the death is well done. I'm sure this unit will see a lot of action.

That's awesome work, I'm very glad someone's finally doing modern infantry units. That area has been neglected for too long. I'll definitely be using this.

Very nice unit! Thank you for taking my request - I really appreciate it. :)
I must say, your attention to detail makes all the difference.

Wow that is excellent thanks for starting to make some modern units. As wyrm poinmted out some auto fire would be really cool for some future units.

Very good! You are starting to fill a gap that was left opened for far to long.
It could even motivate me enough to finish my mod :)
    Some suggestions:
    - Modern German infantry
    - Modern British infantry.

I can send picture if you want

I have a prop for the G36, which is the current standard infantry assault weapon used by the German Bundeswehr... AND, I also have a prop for the modern Uzi, so if you like, you could make an IDF/Israeli Defense Forces Infantry soldier as well. Interested? Lemme know and I'll send you the props later today.
I am not sure whether I have a prop for the SA80, which would be the British Army's standard infantry assault weapon...

Quick scan if I remember correctly, for modern infantry:
    - US: modern infantry (Balou), with paradrop (and different colour), the SAW could be used for USMC, so US are covered
    - France: we have a paratrooper (Balou) and Peacekeeper, with a colour conversion for infantry. A colour conversion can also give marines. So Franca is covered.
    - Russia: we only have the spetsnaz, and a colour version in green.

So there is plenty of room for more modern infantry !

Excellent. Into BfNY it goes. :D

I too would like to see a full auto and/or burst attack.

    That is a great unit.

I also liked the SAW infantry. No complaints here. Maybe a little cammo but that's it. BTW- has anybody thought about using the new digitial cammo for modern soilders?

Considering Civ3's infantry size is that even possible? I know the closest thing CIV 3 has to an infantry unit with digital cammo are the TOW infantry and WWII paratrooper. (Both of which look great-BTW) Heck, the WWII paratrooper almost looks like a friggin' landwarriror ingame.

Civ3 standard units like the marine will look that much better with cammo. Give some good cammo to the marine and you have a modern Chinese and Russian infantry right there.

(Chinese Marines- must admit, that's some sick cammo)

    (Russian infantry)

Oh yeah, I also vote for the modern Russian infantry. Maybe an RPK support gunner as well.

Sure, digital camo looks good, but I'm not sure how well it would shot up on the civ3 scale.

    Digital camo patterns:

You're death animations have been a little 'fast' before, but this one is excellent, great human unit. Maybe there's alot of recoil for just one shot, but it still looks great.

I disagree that his past deaths have been too fast. If you are gonna use the basic "timber" as your death, then your choices are a little fast or a little floaty. Since a dead dude floating to the ground looks worse than a dead dude falling quickly to the ground, I think Navydawg went the right way with those animations. This death animation is just a better animation, and the way his legs hold him up for just a second looks right. I agree that the recoil is a bit heavy. But, the unit as a whole is just super.
