As I promised, here is a thread with a poll. Few rules:

Obviously, we vote for state-based parties which are (usually) affiliated with one of EP's main political groupings. So, before you vote, find out with which group your party is affiliated. If this information isn't available, vote for the "don't know" option.

Non-EUropeans please choose the option "Not an EU citizen, can't vote" and don't spoil the poll results by voting for other options. If you're an EU citizen who's not going to vote, choose the "not going to vote" option.

Wiki summary of EP political groups

* - EPP-ED is probably going to split after the elections, with the "ED" part becoming independent.
** - They have a pan-EU campaign and the are promising a new era in EP politics, so I decided to create an option just for them alone.

You can of course explain your reasons for voting party XY, inform others about the campaign(s) in your country, gripe and rant about EU's failings and so on.

I already voted for the Pirates. Unfortunately I'm not sure which political group they are. I hope I didn't waste my vote.

Well i cannot be bothered to vote, i am quite unpolitical :)
However if the EU wanted to go ahead with serious unification movements, it could announce a plan for the gradual absorbment of the regional parliaments in favor of the EU one :)

I already voted by post for the UKIP.
Their was a ton of parties on the I hadn't heard of, wish I voted for the English democrat now though. Seemed like they would try and screw over the Scots and Welsh which is always fun.

Living in the Lib Dem stronghold of Cornwall, my choice is obvious. Which is the ALDE group I guess. In fact anything to keep out our local UKIP loonies if necessary.

European Democrats

Winner can you link me to some info on the split in the EPP-ED party?

There was something about it on Mardell's Euroblog on BBC. Other than that, I am sure Google can answer all your questions.

Basically, the British Conservatives plus some other parties (PiS from Poland, ODS from the Czech Rep. and some Italians) believe the EPP-ED is too euro-optimist and not tough enough with the socialists, so they want to split and become "the real opposition".

EDIT: Wiki link

ill be voting for the liberal democrats, while i dont agree with them on everything, their closer than the other main parties, their the most pro eu, they opposed the iraq war but their not one of those crazy parties who would oppose every war just for the sake of it, they care about the environment but its not all their about

their part of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, coincedentally the 3rd largest in the ep, same as the lib dem position in the uk parliament, although i could see that improving next election

Im not going to vote. I would, if the EP was more powerful. Infact imo it should become the only parliament in Europe.

Not really the case, is it? :p

I voted for the Norwegian guy who played the fiddle.
