Ever tried playing Civ after drinking too much??

No, if i drink too much i usually end up in bed not booting up my laptop to play civ IV...

Not drunk, but delerious with fever yes!

And it is good, while i'm concentrating on the game i am not noticing how horribly sick i am!!

But then you get smart ass family members that say "well if you can play computer games, you carn't be too sick". Dumbasses

i enjoy drinking beer. i do pretty well for awhile until it takes me 10 minutes to finish a turn. then it's time to play fps games.

A couple times I've had a bit too much to drink while playing. Usually the next time I load up from where I left off, I'm like "what the hell is going on here?" Units wandering in random places, relations with AI civs messed up, weird trade deals, cities building things they shouldn't be.... not good.

Hahaha, funny:goodjob:

i predict Mr Obama will be saying that exact same thing when he takes office in the white house! ("what the hell is going on here?" Units wandering in random places, relations with civs messed up, weird trade deals, cities building things they shouldn't be.... not good)

After my really horrible last birthday, my room-mate peeled me off of my keyboard and put me to bed. Looking at my game the next day I had done surprisingly well, considering I remembered very little of it. Me and Cathy had quite a little empire, but all of my cities were named after household cleaning products... (??)

Day of Defeat on a LAN is so much fun after a few.

Lemon Merchant: I named all of mine after Simpson's characters. To say the least, it was odd.

I don't play that much worse, I just get slower and more sloppy with micro - but still serviceable and would probably win 1 difficulty down honestly.

This would probably hold true right up until the point where I could no longer sit upright without puking or wanting to pass out. I've not actually tried finding such a limit for Civ IV - I rarely drink anymore so I've only tried playing with any degree of inebriation once.

I won a game of NCAA football online after a "power hour" once though, and that game actually requires reflexes in addition to strategy (I was more lacking in the former than the latter), so I can't imagine doing TOO much worse in Civ even in pretty dire straits alcohol-wise.

aye, great fun. since my heavy drinking days are over, I didn't get the "chance" to play CIV drunk, but I sure did play WoW when I was wasted. And that was an experience in itself. You would never remember where you would find yourself the next day when you log in. As long as it was not the Molten Core or anything :D

I don't drink but I have played after taking some hydrocodone - a narcotic pain reliever. That's fun! I get really into it and I start talking to the computer. "What's that Ragnar? You DEMAND I stop trading with the vile English? Who the he77 do you think you are?"
It doesn't give me a drunk feeling, just very relaxed and in a good mood. Although it does make me sleepy. There are time when I just can't keep my eyes open. I'm playing and all of a sudden I wake up and my computer is turned off. I'm thinking "Gee, I hope I saved my game!"

I rarely turn my computer off, so many a time I've come back after a hard night, noticed my pc was on, and spent an hour or two drunkenly messing around. Usually that's restricted to embarrassing myself on IRC, but occasionally Civ gets a look in too.
In fact, fr my last Prince game before moving up to Monarch I decided to write a walkthrough that perhaps I'd post on the forums. I've got it sat in a folder but never posted it up, partly because of the rather large I HAVE BEEN TO THE PUB :D:D:D:D:D:D:D interlude halfway through which made the war I was fighting rather 'sub-optimal', and the write up slightly too manic :P

Not to brag or anything, but I'm pretty much as good drinking as I am sober playing the game. Then again, I almost always have a few when I'm playing, so I don't have much to compare it to. Maybe that's why I haven't beaten monarch yet...

I remember once I came home after drinking too many and eating way too many hot wings. I sat on the toilet while playing civ on the laptop... I'm ashamed of myself.

And I agree, Civ while sick is a great way to take the mind off the illness or broken ribs. And wives who say "You must be doing okay if you just sat there playing video games all day!" bug me.

Never drank and civved. Now playing all night before discovering I have an hour before I have to wake up and go to work on the otherhand...

I've never gotten all liqoured up and played Civ (just two things that don't seem to go well together; like tuna and honey), but I have posted on the forums. Sorry. :mischief:

Mostly I take once a week 3 (strong) beers and this amount doesn't affect my gaming. BUT sometimes I take good single malt and I have learned that before I take my first drink I'll take BW (Before Whiskey) - save. It's a shame to admit that I have needed it every now and then next day
