-The dollar is bombing, changing the strategic positions of all sorts of countries

-America is on the military offensive

-Europe was a hair away from having a near pan-continental consitution, and is also expanding

-The face of China keeps changing

-The strategic relationships in south and east Asia are changing.

Do you all think this "excitement" will keep up over the next ten years, or will things calm down a bit?

Hmm...Well, history has it's exciting and boring times...I figure things'll keep up for anywhere from 10-30 years, then cool off as things are resolved and new, less drastic challenges are brought to the table.:)

Plate-tectonics comes into my mind. I believe everything is shifting and moving into new shapes and poitions geopolitical-wise. I think therefore, will see quite some visible changes in the next decade and certainly in the decade that follows. Or differently said, an old era is saying doodbye.

All of these things you named are predictable, indeed, have been predicted.

Really exciting times are when something relatively unexpected happens - like the instafall of the Soviet Union :p

There is never a boring time of history - just more and less subtle times.

I thought alot of the 90's were boring times. All peace and prosperity makes Jack a dull boy.

I think things will keep heated within the next decade, at least. There are many unsolved issues in the the today's world.

They have been predicted for a while, but that is much different from when they actually begin to happen, and you can see the change in progress.

How about these happenings this week.

Israel and Libya resume talks
Egypt and Iran resume talks
India and Pakistan resume talks.
North Korea and America resume talks.
Syria and Turkey resume talks.
The Euro is the strongest currency.
The French are escorting commercial jets.
Iran is joining the space race.

This is going to be a very interesting year there is no doubt about it.

How the hell am I suppose to get school work done when I have that kind of news to catch up on every day.

Lots of exciting things happening in the next few years. The things I find most exciting are

Iran building nukes
UN inspectors don't think they are
Iran paying the russians to launch satellite to help guide nukes on their merry way to Tel Aviv
Europe is becoming the 4th reich
Europe facing a demographics crisis that's being kept in the dark for fear of offending anyone
Nutty Middle East regimes armsracing like Allah will be here tomorrow

The future looks like a mushroom cloud. Though I don't think much will happen for real, I find it interesting to dwell on total annihilation.

2004 will be a great year, the world is changing, the battle is about to begin (LoTR). Not only for the earth super power but for the exploration of space: Mars, and the other galaxies

Ahm, no. There's a radio-jingle coming every hour, different funny texts with the bottom line "What are you doing ? Shouldn't you be making it like a they do it on the discovery channel ? Make babies, your radio wants listeners in 20 years. Your radio needs you.

The demographic crisis isn't limited to the fact that white Europeans seem to have lost their libidos, but that also all those non-white colonial subjects you folks oppressed for so many years are coming home to roost. The population of Europe will stay the same or rise in the next 20 years, but oh that pasty complexion is about to change...
