Exploration thread

Our second worker will be here, too. He is scheduled to move to the sugar tile, then mine it then road it. We are sending him to the one on the river which is N-NE of The Chamber, right? That takes two moves, the other sugar takes only one move since it is directly S of The Chamber. The spreadsheet shows only one move for worker #2 so I'm confused (again).

As it was stated, the road will be ready then, so Aigburth should go to the riverside sugar. Sorry, I should have named them uniquely, I screwed them up for myself :crazyeye:.

If the road is NOT ready to use next turn, I'd rather send Aigburth to the sugar btc (by the coast) so we rather lose a single commerce than a whole worker move. :hmm: But I'm quite sure, the road is ready...

It seems pottery will finish next turn. Please remember to turn down the slider for a turn :).

I am really curious about the view from the mountain that our second warrior will get next turn. NW of our capital looks like a very nice area to settle.

Choi moved west?
that was disappointing.

It was a tough call. I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention yesterday. I would have polled it. The count was 4/2 in favor of S (with one fine either way) the Paul#42 posted for W which was also my inclination. That made it a big tie. Since many who voted for S also said they didn't mind W I gave the nod to W.

In this case, the turnplayer had to make a tough choice. Go south with Choi, or west?

On the surface, it appears that he went 'against' the consensus. But I don't think that's really the case. As he noted in the turnlog, many of the people pushing for South, were also okay with moving West.

Donsig made the right decision. To be sure, I thought that Choi should have moved South, but on reflection I really think the arguments against moving South were stronger than the arguments against moving West - and that's precisely how Donsig parsed the debate.

Good job, Chairman! :salute:

While I was a proponent to our warrior climbing the southern peaks, as mentioned in the first post I was (and still am) cool either way. However I'm unsure how 4/2 in favour of South equates to West

But under the circumstances Well done Donsig ... But, I don't think that you should appologise for not polling the issue as it falls under the auspices of the Defence Chair.

Perhaps you could post your general thoughts in the Preturn thread of decisions you are leaning towards or ask questions which you want answered. This will alert the various Council Chairmen of issues that require discussion.

Which leads to this question (Sorry wrong thread) should we not be discussing our next research now?

EDIT.
Actually I don't think it is upto you to wade through various discussion threads and interepret, rather let's have the Chairmen take a more active role and make things easier for the Turn Taker. In the previous MTDG, I was a member of a team that had a separate thread where orders were posted to the Turn Taker, perhaps this may be a good thing to incorporate especially once things become more interesting (in a chinese sence)

PS. Hope this doesn't offend anyone :)

Actually it ended up 4 v 4; myslef, Niklas and Paul favoured West which was also Donsig favoured direction though he didn't say so until posting the info of the turn.

I agree though we should start looking at formalising the instructions to the turn player, this will become ever more important as our empire grows and the management of which becomes more complicated. I think the role of the department head should be to chair the discussion for their department then place the consensus opinion as clear, unambiguous instructions to the turnplayer in a dedicated thread.

I would also like to see a foriegn intelligence thread where we can discuss and speculate on such things as the demographics screen, if only because this is one of the most fun parts of a multi team game :D

I think Donsig made it perfectly clear how he arrived at his decision:
If there had been more time I would have polled this one. RL got in the way. In the end I decided to move him west since most everyone who voted south had west as a second choice

Contrarily, no one who opted for west felt as ambivalent about South. I think he made the correct call here.

Besides - we really don't need a formal poll set up where there's so few of us posting opinions. It's no trouble at all to just count up what people have posted - which is what 2 of us have already done on this very issue :)

btw.: both warriors W is a no-brainer for the next turn, right? :mischief:

Should be.

Ehm...

:p

I am fine with that.
I think.
Who holds the defense chair again?
Should we distribute power according to the chairs this early?

And no reason to apologize Donsig.
You made the right call, based on the input you got.

west is fine. South looks to be mountainous territory, in any case... low priority. Except for the gems and iron down there, of course...

Glad to hear there is a consensus among the Council about last turn. :)

For the coming turn (#13) we have both warriors moving west, we'll start researching writing, switch the barracks over to a granary and have zyxy do what ever the spreadsheet calls for. Sound right?

Oh, yes, we should definately get a formal instruction thread up to help the turn player with his duties.

EDIT: I guess zyxy is still mining the BG? Aigburth should start mining the sugar tile, right?

yes, we should. and that sounds right.

And you have been doing a great job so far, donsig! but yes - we need to get better organized, or it's gonna be donsig vs. the world!!

Thanks! donsig vs. the world is not a matchup we want to see. I'm not a very good micromanager so I need all the help I can get so an instruction thread is a great idea.

Oh, in addition to what I mentioned above, we should lower the science rate so we'll still get pottery in one turn. Gotta remember all this stuff. Should be able to play the save in five or six hours.

wow. That latest screen shot is amazing. I have never, ever seen tundra next to jungle before. I guess we are up near the north of the world!! That must be why y-wrapping is on - I bet everyone thinks they are near the equator.

So that gives us 2 luxes nearby, as well.
