A Pakistani child was born blind and recieved sight from a 50 year old who gave up his healthy eye. Now the child will be able to see partially.
To me when I read this I didn't even know an eye transplant could be done.
    Heres the full story.

Mind me I couldn't get the link to work. If you want to see the whole story you will have to got to slashdot.org

I don't know eye transplant can work either... yes, I know that we can reconnect nerves, but what about the size of eye socket and size of the eyeball? Will the growth hormones from the boy make the transplanted eye grows even larger?

I don't know much about this but the article said the guy was going to get partial vision because of the transplant.

They've done some pretty impressive stuff recently; there have been head transplants done with Chimps, for instance.

So you mean they were able to connect one one chimps brain to the other chimps nerves?

And who was it here that in their sig had (paraphrased from memory) "If you slice my neck apart, is it me and my body or me and my head"? Sounds like a question we should ask that chimp.

I fall squarely in the 'me and my head' camp.

Ah, okay, understood. I'd suggest looking at it not as random brutality but as seeking knowledge which may save hundreds or thousands of lives in the future.

Because if head can be transplanted, this seems to means brain can be transplanted (with the head). So, this means that people who are rich and powerful may one day start to "buy a body" to continue their life (assuming the head (brain) do not deteriorate). Get the scenario? It may be exciting, but yet carries some disturbing possibility.

To push it further, since the body is switched, the DNA has change as well. With some plastic surgery, it may well be possible to totally assume another person's identity almost flawlessly.

This might create some chaos to the world.

Disturbing: The human head lives for 10 seconds after rapid decapitation. Meaning that those poor people who fell under the guillotine during the French Revolution got to live for 10 seconds with their head in the basket while their body was a couple feet away. Creepy.

The chimps only lived for about a half-hour, IIRC.
