EDIT:
Picture is false, I fixed the flap thing. :p

Umm... DK, you did notice that you've got the right wing on backwards...?

Other than that it's a pretty good likeness.

I promise not to comment on how chubby this one looks.

Pretty good model there... and interesting concept of how it has the flaps on the forward section of the left wing and the rear of the right wing. ;)

Well, perhaps if the war had not ended so abruptly the aircraft designers at Lockheed's Skunk Works would have been able to test so innovative a design... ;)

Yeah, they needed some way to outturn all those zero's flying circles on them. ;)
Btw, I thought the F6F became the standard American carrier fighter over the course of WWII? :mischief:

It did... but I think Octavius wanted the F4F to fight some hypothetical WWI battles or something... :mischief:

Very nice. :) You are getting good at this business!

Evidently, based on the other thread, I know at least a tiny bit more history than you do. ;) :)
Yeah... that WWII lasted well into 1946... go on and keep thinking that... you're living in your own private idaho buddy.

Okay, Wolfshanze, I've tried to be conciliatory, but frankly I'm now beginning to find your remarks annoying. You know full well that I never insisted that WWII lasted that long; and in fact, I never claimed that the Midway ever served in WWII! All I said was that it was a WWII-era vessel, which it is. (A ship built during WWII, ordered for WWII, and that was by-and-large finished in WWII qualifies as a WWII vessel.) For you to say that I'm too stupid even to realize that an F4F Wildcat would be out of place in World War I (~20 years out of date vs. 8 days) is just downright demeaning. It smacks of the attitudes of a few Marines I know who repeatedly insist that the air force is not a "real" branch of the military. I do not like that sentiment, especially since I have a high regard for the USAF. The Midway was launched in March 1945, so I consider its class an appropriate unit for modeling in a potential WWII scenario. If you disagree, that is fine, but please don't insult my historical intelligence.

I would be curious to know what the Roman UU in your Wolfshanze Mod is called: is it the Legionary or the "Praetorian"? If it's the former, then I congratulate you on your good sense, and I hope that that same kind of intelligent moderation will continue to inform your modding... if it's the latter, then you can understand that I get just as easily upset over arcane historical points as well, as your Midway-class carrier issue is equivalent to my Roman Legion-Praetorian debate.

Whew! Must be something about dutchking's art that causes all these conflicts to break out.
