The brillant scientists of Fanatikos have recently found a way to write books and manuscripts very quickly, with something called a "Printing Press". This new invention allows us to tell other nations all we know of countries they don't know about. So shall we tell the people of our continent that another continent exists and holds the high matience English, the warmongering Japanese, and the weak Babs? If we do, we can reap rich rewards in the form of lots of GOLD! So Fanatikos, should we trade communications? Discuss and I will put up a poll soon.

Sell communications like crazy. First, give Japan, England, and the Babs info on all the civs on our continents, bankrupt them all. Then give the other civs on our continent the Babs, Japanesse, and English and gets tons of cash. I suggest doing that in the next TC before war with France if any war occurs.

:bump:

We need to decide this people! Should we let the 2 continents finally find out they are not alone in this world?

If we only get a few gold out of then better to wait until we can use it in trading and meantime be a tech broker. Don't sell undervalued. Remember you can only sell a contact between 2 civs to one side not both so we could sell contact with Japan to Rome but could not then sell contact with Rome to Japan. We therefore need a thought out sequence if we do sell to maximise what we can get. These contacts may be very useful (if we can keep them that long) once we can trade maps.

Alright, i checked out what our rivals are willing to pay for us to arrange a meeting with each other. These are the best deals I could find:

Persia will pay 15 gpt and 6 gold for Contact with English
Persia will pay 19 gpt and 6 gold for Contact with Japanese
Persia will give us Education and 13 gpt and 6 gold for Contact w/English and Japanese and Printing Press

No one else is willing to give anything of substantial value, unless you want to get 20 gold from Rome for valuable communications.

My take on it: We should take the first 2 deals with Persia. This way we get more gpt then in the 3rd deal, and we don't have to give up a tech.

Looking at a combined deal (once you sell to anyone they will be traded around so you might as well sell to all):

Persia will give 39gpt and 6 gold for contact with England, Japan and Babylon (36gpt without Babylon - you get more if you haggle)
Rome will give 24 gold for any (least valuable is Babs)
Joan will give 2 gold for any (least valuable is Babs)
Japan will give 3 gold for any (least valuable is Germany)
Liz will give 2gpt and 1 gold for any (least valuable is Germany)

Once we sell to Persia, they will be able to trade those same contacts to the other Civs on our continent and also the contacts for our neighbours to the other continent. We should make sure that we get this money not Persia and grab whatever we can and be prepared to step in again when they have enough gold to buy again. Once we sell to one there is no going back, so it maybe better to take the little extra we can get now before Persia does.

We do NOT want to trade for Education as we will soon get that free from the Great Library and we would give up our Monopoly on Printing Press (worth 50gpt - all they make) to do so. Of course if we decided to sell Printing Press for 50gpt (+6gold) that would have to delay the sale of the contacts as they would no longer have the gpt to buy them.
