Peace with India?

I don't really see any point in to continuing the war with India. They have only one jungle city left, and all of our alliances have ended. I suggest we sign a peace treaty and take whatever pitiful reparations they can pay.

Peace renegotiations

England:

They give world map, 11 gold and a trade embargo against Babylon. This will serve to maintain a treaty after the alliance ends. Also, end this alliance in 7 turns.

France:

World map, 14 gold, 1gpt for peace.

Trade embargo

We give iron to Russia for two workers, WM, and a trade embargo against Babylon.

Bad news

At some point, the tweeks Firaxis made to prevent some diplomatic exploits screwed us over. We can no longer trade gpt or luxuries for techs. I have no clue what it was we did to incur this penalty, but it is nevertheless in place.

Also, I would like to establish an embassy with Greece at some point soon for 158 gold.

Peace with India? Good thing I'm not going to be President. It's a holy war! muffled screams persist as FortyJ is rushed out of the room by his aides... a lone dignitary returns and states simply "Lord FortyJ, retiring Monarch of the Fanatikan Empire, Harbinger of Doom to all our enemies, subject of horror stories told to Indian children at night, agrees with your plea for leniency against the vile, hated and lowly Indians.

Everything else looks good, too. Concerning the trade deals for tech... is it simply possible that our economy is not strong enough to scratch the surface of what it would cost to acquire these more expensive technologies at 2nd, 3rd or 4th level prices?

I can only hope it's the economy... Greece will still pay some nice gold for our luxs.

About the trade deals...it is a different message than when you simply can't afford it. The advisor says "They would never accept such a deal". It seems that Rome getting wiped out while we had trade deals with them could be the cause.

Not much, Oct.......I think they have a worker.

eyrei, I agree that we shouldn't send our military through the jungle to remove the Indian seat of power in Dacca. Our cavs in that area should heal and then see what damage they can do in the next 7 turns against Babylon forces. So let's take that worker and run.

Also, go ahead and submit your Greek embassy request to the new Budget Office once you clear it with the public(and once the office opens....). My hunch tells me the new guy might push that one through. ;)

Firaxis did nothing to you. Tech trade pricing has always skyrocketed in the Industrial age.

Roadcage: It is a know Firaxis error. Its an oddity of the game, which should have been fixed by at least 1.21. Here we are, though, at 1.29/1.14, and we still have it. It gives you a rep hit for something you didnt do. CT: Could you please explain it further, because its happened to me, it sucks, but ive never tried to explain it.

While sending some cav through the jungle on a long trek would certainly be dramatic (and would give us an ocean port) it really isn't all that necessary.

It is something the French would do, but they ran their colonial empire at a loss for a hundred years. The British were much better at imperial exploitation.
