Facebook

I reluctantly joined it over the summer of '08 finally, it was probably the only way I was going to be able to keep any contact with people who live in different places now. My friends have grown to something like 40 but I never use Facebook unless I have to contact those people specifically for something.

On the other hand my cousin for example has in excess of 500 friends, mostly women who he has sex with. So there are many uses to Facebook.

I haven't joined it and never will. It just seems a empty imitation of a social life.

Its very useful for keeping in touch with people.

I joined about 2 months ago. It has some merit in terms of organizing parties and whatnot but otherwise it's just a gigantic glorified member photos thread and a way to put yourself on display. Also, when I joined I was pleasantly surprised to speak with some people that had moved away and I hadn't seen in a long time.

I joined in August. I don't really do anything with it, but it is very useful for small stuff. Plus, you do see people around there that you haven't seen in a long time.

I joined in 2006, when I graduated highschool, but the more time that went on, the less and less I used it. I haven't logged into it for months.

Facebook used to be better, but two things have changed that:

1)the admittance of members not in college (read this as "annoying high school punks")
2)the great influx of applications, and their invites

Apart from that, Facebook is still much better than, say, MySpace. I find it very helpful for keeping in contact with people I otherwise wouldn't be able to, and several groups at school have used it to organize things like schedules as well as form discussion boards.

If you join, you must join the CFC Group!

Applications used to be much, much worse though... They've become a LOT less intrusive than they were this time last year.

I practically gave up facebook when the app's first appeared. It lost its minimalist appeal, and became more like myspace. I couldn't hang.

What he said.

College kids are equal to or greater than highschool punks in terms annoyance and general wang suckery.

I completely agree with that. But I also agree with the other poster, that facebook was better pre-highschool kids. Let the little kids have myspace, give facebook back to college, I don't think cocky highschool dicks and cocky college frat boys mix well.

It's useful, keeps me in contact with some people, which is good.
Plus, even though the apps are annoying, there is tetris, and tetris is always good.

I did today!

How old is this group? I've done "civilization" search in groups before but never seen it. And what's the point for a facebook group, when we have a whole forum?

Every time you use an application, god kills a kitten. Fact.

It's good for keeping in touch with people. I don't use it much though. It also makes e-stalking girls much much easier. Not that I do that sort of thing...

It's less good if you don't change your status for three days and your parents start thinking you might be dead (true story, mostly)

I'm on it. But I don't like it. I only have it because some friends asked me to.
