Faction Color

For some nations, the colour they are shown in a map is as important and as much of a symbol as their national flag or coat of arms. I wouldn't imagine France to be anything other than blue on a map, for instance.

I like a white and gold France for the French royals. But I hear what your saying. The colors seem to tie to the leader. Im already tired of brown for Tecumseh and I haven't even started playing yet.

I agree, don't like the civ color attached to the leader
The color is most likely attached to the leader because they're a constant throughout the game. Having colors change across the board twice per game beyond the initial setup would be confusing for many.

Odds are choosing your color is on the way. Like in Civ 6 in the end we had four choices to make regarding Civ color. But fine detail like that is understandably missing at the launch. Personally I feel they really should focus on more important things to fix first, although this one shouldn't be more than 30 minutes work. It is an important polishing touch, but it is just polishing. Not saying polishing wouldn't be important at all but still it's polishing. Would love for the industry to start doing that properly again. Launches are veritable toilet flushes.

Let me be any color I want.
I've wanted this for a while now. As someone who cares a lot about colors, I remember liking Egypt's gameplay in V but I couldn't bear looking at that magenta-on-yellow for hours on end. I was thrilled when the jersey system released in VI, and one of the first things I did was download a mod with different jersey colors and then edit the mod file to add my favorite color combination as one of the options for every civilization/leader (the main reason I got the mod was so I could edit the mod file instead of trying to edit the game files).
