Factories/Zoos/Aquariums

    This is a question about Zoos/Factories/Aquariums.

    City A and City B are next to each other. They both have an industrial zone within 6 tiles of each city. City A builds a factory.

    City A gets a production bonus. City B also gets a production bonus, being within 6 tiles of the factory. Do they get the exact same bonus or does City A get a larger bonus because it both owns that industrial zone and is within 6 tiles of the factory?

    Later, City B also builds a factory. City A receives no further benefit from the factory. Does City B, upon building it's own factory, get any production bonus at all? Or is it just 100% useless to build that factory?

    Though if you want extra great engineer points, it does have that benefit. And if you plan on giving Magnus Vertical Integration, then it could be useful that way. And you have a citizen slot too with the factory, though I'm not sure why anyone would use that.

    And same with your first example, there's little reason to keep building factories if you don't need to. Great engineer points, or Vertical Integration would be the only reason to do so. You don't get more production in one city or the other.

    There are exceptions. The great people who give "+2 to factories", that seems to actually count as a LOCAL bonus, so if you had that great person active, then building the factory will give the extra +2 production. And sometimes I will build that extra factory if it covers another city, even if the city in question is already covered. But otherwise, yes, usually it's not worth it to build that 2nd factory.

    There's also the marginal case of having a backup if someone pillages your first Factory either with a military unit or a spy. There was a time where AI was rather prone to do the latter, but now they seem to just endlessly cause unrest in your neighborhoods.

    What about industrial city states? In Rise and Fall they give at their highest level +2 production in every city with a Factory building when producing wonders, buildings, and districts.

    The +2 only goes to the city that has the factory, not the other cities within six tiles.
