Am I the only one here thinking that Faith will be a part of policies within the game?

When I think of how Faith can produce Great People in relation to specific Policies (GG for Autocracy, GE for Order, GA for Freedom), I wonder if allowing a Great Scientist with Rationalism, or a Great Merchant for Commerce would be too OP.

Also, I can see the possibility of Faith tying in with certain policies...

For example

Rationalism: Secularism - Gain +1 Faith for every University and Public School

Any other thoughts or opinions on potential Faith bonuses in Policies?

I think there is a very small chance that Piety won't include some faith based bonuses at least, or Piety will be redone to be something else to remain culture based.

I expect Piety will give culture and faith bonuses.

And I hope the Commerce finisher will be changed to something 'fun', like receiving a Great Merchant. The current +1 gold per specialist is underwhelming.

Being able to buy Great Scientist with faith at Rationalism is overpowered, and Rationalism doesn't need it. Likewise a Great Artist at Piety.

Er... maybe I am really missing the point, but why in the world would a policy named Secularism grant Faith?

Now, if the Policy was called Scholasticism, I would most definitely agree with you. As it is, though....

How do you think religion can be included in piety. Maybe a free great prophet?

Most likely theocracy of the piety tree will be a faith based policy. Reason a lot of Islamic country's and the vatican city are theocractic goverment. Organized religion policy will likely be a faith based policy maybe a free great Prophet.

A faith related policy in the Tradition branch would be nice, so we could choose between it and enhance our chances of founding a religion or get some expansive or military advantage with the Liberty or Honor branches.

I'm not sure, I'm not one to pretend to know how things should be implemented for proper balance and what not - I'm probably only passable at the game. However, the very idea of piety is most often a religious one, every policy name is religious, and IIRC Temples are being remade to religious buildings. All this means that piety either has to be redone into either a faith or faith and culture based policy or renamed and reworked to remain culture based.
