So finally people are clearly stating that the king was naked - or, in this case, that the WHO is staffed by a bunch of self-serving liars, and the national authorities are incompetents who believed the WHO against all the evidence coming from the southern hemisphere's winter season.

As we all know, the dreaded swine flu pandemic turned out to be just another regular flu season. Now one german politician (link to his lengthiest interview on the subject), chairman of the Council of Europe's health committee, is organizing an investigation into the links between the World Health Organization and pharmaceutical companies. Close "cooperation" between the WHO and the pharmaceutical industry started in the late 1990s, with "public-private partnerships", and currently part of the staff of the WHO works for the pharmaceutical industry. No wonder, then, that a few of those companies managed to net some 5 thousand million euros selling vaccines just to european governments, most of which were left unused as the "pandemic" turned out to be no more than another unremarkable variant of the seasonal flu.

I'm only surprised that big pharma hasn't managed to bribe him.

Some more news about those conflicts of interests involving WHO staff:

Even as questions are being raised about whether the swine flu scare was exaggerated to benefit pharma companies, evidence has surfaced that several members of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) vaccine board which pushed countries to buy the H1N1 vaccine have had significant ties with pharma companies.

This fact, which is bound to raise issues of conflict of interest, was exposed by Danish daily ‘Information’ last month. TOI attempted to get WHO’s response, but several emails sent to the office of the WHO director-general on January 9 met with no response.

Documents acquired through the Danish Freedom of Information Act revealed that Prof Juhani Eskola, a Finnish member of the WHO board on vaccines, ‘Strategic Advisory Group of Experts’ (SAGE), received almost 6.3 million euros in 2009 for his vaccine research programme, THL, from the vaccine manufacturers, GSK, qualifying GSK as THL’s main source of income. SAGE advises WHO chief Margaret Chan and recommends which vaccines and how much of it member countries should purchase, pointed out the Danish newspaper.

Apart from Prof Juhani Eskola, who received almost 6.3 million euros for his vaccine research programme, Danish journalists reported on six other members of ‘Strategic Advisory Group of Experts’ (SAGE) with financial ties to various pharmaceutical companies. These include Dr Peter Figueroa, Dr Neil Ferguson, Prof Malik Peiris, Dr Arnold Monto, Dr Friedrich Hayden and Dr Albert Osterhaus. Barring Dr Figuero, who revealed that he had accepted a research grant from Merck, none of the others made any disclosures.

Many of the pharmaceutical companies with which the vaccine board members had ties, are also the manufacturers of vaccines including the H1N1 vaccine like GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Novartis, Solvay, Baxter, MedImmune and Sanofi Aventis. None of the WHO members on the vaccine board, barring one, declared any conflict of interest despite having extensive financial ties with the pharmaceutical companies in the form of research grants and consultancies.

I'm lurking. This might prove to be interesting. But then again I'm drunk. :crazyeye:

It wasn't quite the same as the regular flu season. It spread in unusually large quantities in the northern hemisphere during summer.
It was little different from a regular flu here though.

It was not a typical flu season, but the panic that it inspired was greatly unwarranted.

I spent most of that time in the hospital, though, so perhaps it just didn't register, for me, as it did for other people.

I am not surprised by this. It always seemed a bit fishy to me all the money pouring into big phramacies.

The article brings up a very scary concept. I hope it doesn't end up turning into a "Boy who cried wolf" type of scenario.

I hope so. We could do with a few less humans about the planet.

are you saying I invested everything I had in THIS:

out of collective psychosis?

well, dumb people have less money and some sly multimillionare has way more. it's not really win-win, but it's pretty funny.

Its nothing new really is it Gekko?

actually I think that's by far the most blatant induced paranoia ever, as far as health goes. there might be others I didn't know about though.

To me it seemed like it was just a regular flu. Generally most people would have just got a mild dose of it and the rare cases were just like what a normal flu could do, and that i kill, so I saw nothing to be worried about it. I am pretty sure during the flu season we got here that I got the swine flu as some stage, but only once was I very sick from a virus, but even then i did not go to hospital, but I did get very sick from a virus.

Old news already...

It was not a typical flu season.

Right, in fact it seems that the typical flu season causes more victims.

Yeah! I hope we are never told about a brand new contagious virus that we can easily take precautions against if we are aware of it and make a vaccine for it even if it kills 10,000s of people including 1,000's of people who would not normially die of the flu.

And I'm so glad that someone pointed out that the swine flu pandemic, which spread rapidly through communities across 6 continents, was fake.

At least the panicked media gave real information unlike the people yelling hype.

I am proud to say I was among the first ones to say all the paranoia was BS.

Or maybe because of all the attention and preventative steps the cumulative effect was lessened?

THIS also I got it and I was horrifically sick
