Faked swine flu pandemic to be investigated

I was expecting links to reports and data. Sometimes I expect too much.

Hmm... I'm going to wait until an economic link between Pharma and board members can be conclusively proven. I won't be surprised if it turns out to be true though.

I'm not a medical professional but I did get this flu myself and watched it spread faster than any other I've seen. If the contagiosity of this flu combines with more harmful aspects of other strains, then that would be bad. And that hypothetical is what I think the authorities were stressing, not that this particular season would leave millions dead in the streets.

I dunno, that's what they were implying the first couple weeks the flu hit. Up here people were freaked out for about a month, and then realized that it's as, if not less deadly than the normal strain, and everything went back to normal.

Pandemic doesn't mean what laypeople think it means. That was a problem for the health people.

Old news already...

Right, in fact it seems that the typical flu season causes more victims.

Indeed. At one point, IIRC, it hadn't caused as many deaths in 1 1/2 years as the typical flu does in one season. What really stood out, though, was how much young people were affected. Even those that were healthy took a hit. Old people were seemingly less affected than normal.

Highly exclusive technical terms in a field that doesn't necessarily reflect their common usage? Whoever heard of such a ridiculous concept?

well, what does pandemic mean in common usage then (as opposed to its real meaning)?

Apparently, people take pandemic to mean "highly lethal". It isn't. It's a measure of the ability to spread.

I was sick, I mean really sick for a month, with something this last 'winter' (I live in the tropics) and yet I survived. Then a month later it came back for 2 weeks and kicked my arse all over again but! I didn't kill me either time.

That means something I'm pretty sure.

But I laugh! HaHaHa! But I don't laugh at anything in particular nor do I desire to tempt fate and be that sick again, but I do laugh, HaHaHa, just for being alive.

:scared:

There was a pandemic.
'Regular' flu is about 40 different viruses during flu season
This was just one virus

Yes! That's right El_Machinae! No that's so true! :shifty: Oh please let it be true! :scared:

:whimper:

Maybe the reason why people are now saying there was no swine flu is because all the precautions worked?

Wait. What's that aimeeandbeatles? Hold on I'm still trying to deal with the fact that there's no :whimper: smiley?!?!!?

No, its true. :(

No, a crap load of people got infected, the "problem" is that the virus simply isn't that deadly... yet :cue dies irae: It is only note worthy so far in that the relatively young are more likely to die of the illness then the elderly, who usually succumb to this illness.

Since many people have been infected already, it seems to me that if it comes back meaner that a significant segment of the population will at least have partial immunity to it. Also, I assume that h1n1 and some concocted variations of it will be put into the normal flu vaccine.

I personally believe that the threat posed by H1N1 is greatly diminished.

Well, it still went through, but it is is possible it may have been more severe if they didn't remind everyone to wash their hands and things.

I also got the immunization yesterday. My arm hurts and I looked up why and I got a crapload of conspiricy sites. (I finally found a reasonable explanation which says it was because it was intramuscular injection.)

dot watches cfc guessing away and shakes his head.

enjoy!
