No, a crap load of people got infected.
I don't know any. Actually this winter is passing with the least cases of flu than normal, among the list of my friends and collegues.
No, a crap load of people got infected.
to be precise it's a measure of how wide the virus has spread. but just because idiots believe pandemic means highly lethal, doesn't mean that the pandemic didn't happen.Apparently, people take pandemic to mean "highly lethal". It isn't. It's a measure of the ability to spread.
)SO then is the common cold at pandemic levels? Why don't we hear the UN trumpeting about it?
because it's not just a single virus but many different variants?
wiki said:The common cold is most often caused by infection with one of the 99 known serotypes of rhinovirus, a type of picornavirus.[6][7] Around 30-50% of colds are caused by rhinoviruses.[2] Other viruses causing colds are coronavirus (causing 10-15%[2]), human parainfluenza viruses, human respiratory syncytial virus, adenoviruses, enteroviruses, or metapneumovirus.[8] 5-15% are caused by influenza viruses.[2] In total over 200 serologically different viral types cause colds.[2] Coronaviruses are particularly implicated in adult colds. Of over 30 coronaviruses, 3 or 4 cause infections in humans, but they are difficult to grow in the laboratory and their significance is thus less well-understood.[8] Due to the many different types of viruses and their tendency for continuous mutation, it is impossible to gain complete immunity to the common cold.

what about it was one of the 40 different viruses ?![]()
if we are to make up percentages, yes you are right. If we are to speak the truth, you're making up percentages.
Except I'm not. I just wasn't crediting my source. However I had slightly misremembered the statistic.
H1N1 accounted for over 90% of diagnosed cases of influenza in Victoria's 2009 flu season (where I live).

Pandemic doesn't mean what laypeople think it means. That was a problem for the health people.
), they continue to push unnecessary mass vaccination programs. That's because places stopped testing for the other flu's altogether, resulting in inflated numbers.
