Falklands War

I want to create a scenario of the Falklands Conflict (1982). Main players would be:
UK
ARGENTINA
USA
Chile

The Uk would not be able to create units and would have to win the game with the veteran units it starts with, as in the real conflict. However argentina can create conscripe new units.

Anyone have any ideas?

Creating a good Falklands scenario isn't going to easy, but if you can pull it off the more power to you!

What, exactly, are the Americans going to do in the scenario?

I thought of using the USA as a balance, they could become allied to either side and swing the game in a different direction ( as they will have nukes.)

Perhaps works from a gameplay POV, but realistically there was no chance whatsoever the Americans would have actually gone to war against the UK - a leading NATO country - in defense of Argentina's right to annex foreign territories.

America wasn't involved in the falklands war at all though. Also Britain has nuclear weapons and would have been more likely to use them than the Americans (it was our territory that was under attack after all) though they should probaly be removed as nobody would use nuclear weapons in such a small theatre.

Some of the British subs were armed with Nukes, as has been well documented ( read Max Hastings book). The American`s gave the British support by letting the UK use their base at Ascension (funny cos its british terriory anyway). I was thinking of including the USA as a what if, type of thing...as didnt want to create a scenario with only two sides.

Chile gave support to Mrs T. Hence, why she like general Pinchotte...so much.

I think this would be good scenario, and would be willing to help with informations on the units of the troop deployed and the engagements they where in.

Thanks private, at the moment i`m just putting together ideas and considering if a Falklands scenario would work. What i need is someone to make me a descent Falklands map, would have to be large.

Hey Ritch, I was going to a falklands mod a while ago, but never got round to completing it. I've attached the map I made for it, hopefully you'll be able to use it but I'm not sure if its large enough. btw south georgia and ascension aren't to scale on this map, i just needed to fit them on somewhere.

You should also check out wrmyshadows units, I think he's done nearly all the planes you need.

GDW made a Falklands campaign scenario book for use with Harpoon 3, back in the day. Pop over to Ebay and you can probably find a copy up there. I noticed one a copuple weeks back when I was getting something else. The book is real good, and doesn't require Harpoon or Command Decision (?) to get history and deployments out of. if you want to PLAY them, you'd probably want those two games.
