I vividly remember asking my Dad why there were two Germanies, and why they could not be one again. He laughed, explained a great deal about why not that I didn't really get (I must have been 5 or 6). I accepted reality as it was - then, one day, I was by then 14, I came home from school and turned on the radio and they talked about the Monday Marches. When ym Dad came home he looked at me, raised an eyebrow and said: well, sometimes I am overly pessimistic.
What was more mindblowing to me was that he remembered our talk, not that 'things can change'
