Fantasy city sets

That is literally a copy/paste of the AoW map 'Dungeon' graphic, placed on green terrain.
So in that respect, you should advocate that it isn't used for orcs either :P

Skulls can be used for any 'evil' civ, the issue is if they look enough like skulls or not and also if they look cool - which is what will decide if I keep it or not (currently it just doesn't look good enough).

I still am not happy with them. But I will try to incorporate the skull in size 3, as part of the largest special building there (the arena).
Any views on what can be changed/improved? (eg @Vuldacon ?)

Maybe they need a major rework. For example, the cathedral (already there in size1) is the largest ever size1 building in this style of sets (larger even than in the Aztec size1, which had a temple). I am intimidated by how much work it would take to change it, though.
Anyway, I will only release them when I have 4 fantasy sets (as the fifth in the file with be a human one, and there are already human medieval sets by me).
So next (when this is at least typically done) I will create an elven set.

Kyriakos... I think this is Good and the Skull placed in size 3 should work well too.

don't over work it all... so it doesn't become lesser from more.
"Good"? Isn't that another term for "rather bad"? ^^
Unfortunately I don't like them - BUT I am of the view that I should first create a second set, and let things resolve themselves with the first one. After all, it's been a minute.

No, Good means Good.

As always, end the end, Best to please yourself :yup:

Good means that it is good, and we like it.

You are like me, never quite satisfied with your creations. Always thinking that you can do better.
Yes, that is a "perfectionist" usual evaluation... and that can lead to over working Art unless the Art work is abandoned and something new is created from the experience.

I don't think this was ever the case with me, in regards to reworking a set in one style (they can deteriorate from style to style). At some point, I do get a better sense of what works.

 yes, generally some sort of experimentation can help

In the end, they will hopefully look ok (right now, they just don't). But there's no real modelling in this scale, it's 90% highlights and tricks about them. Which does become grating :)

Your sets are not finished yet, so out of curiosity, I uploaded you images to chatgpt and here are the results. I'm not trolling you only wanted to show you some options :)

Yes, Ai keeps getting better at consistency and similarity - but these still are very repetitive and even worse than what I did ^^
That said, I do like the idea for the simple roof at a lower part of the tower and will try it.

This will work:

Because it is too artificial not to.

With corrections and highlights, I expect it to look quite nice.

As for Ai, it really isn't relevant in the thread but fwiw the Ai has the serious handicap of never being able to actually tell how you imply a building's importance by covering it up. At this size, this is critical. It is certainly more than capable of producing singular buildings with (for the time being) very good quality, albeit typically soulless (but pls let's not turn this into an Ai discussion thread- I am not against Ai art on principle, but it's not the place for this ^^).

Due to lack of concept art, I may do the unthinkable ( :) ) and actually imagine something on my own :D

I am also not too keen on how in size#1 the centerpiece is obscured by the cathedral-y building. But the general form is ok.
