Farm decay?

This is something I noticed, but I've only noticed it in the second game I've played. I was playing on Prince as France, and I had hit about turn 280. I had fairly recently got fertilizer.

But, my farms that I had had since the beginning of the game disappeared. The tile still looked farmlike, but it turned brown and the tile info didn't show as being a farm. The only tiles it had happened on (yet?) were flood plains, as far as I can tell.

Screenshots forthcoming.

Thinking about it, it might not be a factor of time, but of not using the tile? I'm just throwing a conjecture out there.

And, it's not a pillaged tile. Unless the game brought up no notification of enemy units or a tile being pillaged. Further, it notes that on the tile.

Final note: I never got a notification that this was happening, either.

Yeah i noticed this too.

After quite a few turns i noticed I had what looked like the remains of a farm , but the game was still "suggesting" i build a farm there. I could of sworn i built a farm there already.

I just chalked it up as a bug and didn't think anything of it. Guess if you dont work them they "die" and you have to rebuild them?

I believe those are 'in-progress' farms. As in your worker started building a farm and didn't complete it.

@OP, its not just the farms all the land seems to have turned into mud. Unusual, some sort of glitch. (Notice the oasis at the top, oasis are on desert tiles, not on mud.)
