Suffered a CTD yesterday which provided no clues in the logs as to why. Indeed there appeared to be no errors at all.

Today I started again and Firaxis appears to have released a minor update, though there is no increment to the versioning.

So, reloaded and starting again from an autosave I experienced no ingame errors. I therefore quit out and examined the log and found it full of FATAL errors and tracebacks.

I can only conclude the new executables didn't play well with a save from the old ones.
However I still have no clue what caused the CTD in first place.
Has anyone had an experience similar?

EDIT:
Unbelievably stupid error by me and Firaxis.

Despite completely re-installing the game via Steam only a few days prior to this CTD, apparently my system still wasn't "up-to-date" as far as Steam was concerned.
After spending fruitless hours searching for a possible cause I finally took some advice from stackpointer and did a verification of my local files.
Steam says I needed to have some new files installed and promptly downloaded them and installed them on the next start.
Remarkably the lua.log is now free of all the errors and unhelpful file ideentifications.
I am now back to having a sound working platform to use.

Moral of the story:
Even after a complete re-install via Steam do a verification anyway. Possibly two different subsystems handle the files that are needed. One to do a fresh install from a reasonably up-to-date pool of files and another to check using an even newer batch of files.

So if you are experiencing anything like this, learn from my stupidity and avoid any headaches.
