Hello All -

Just starting playing the CBP and I loooooooove it.

I'm not sure if this has already been a post somewhere...

I understand that this is a personal option for everyone depending on how you like to play the game and /or your starting position in game, but generally --

I would still like to reach out to you all and find out your opinions here:
1. the best CIV's to play ?
2. Which Pantheon do you like?
3. Where do you take your religion?

More play time is needed on my end, I have only played twice, so for me -
1. I enjoy the bonuses the Shoshone get especially the extra land.
2. Quarries bonus to faith is awesomeness
3. uncertain

what say you? :hmm:

~ Cheers ~ JPS

1. My favourite is Spain by far. It's just fun to play.
2. Pantheon depends on start of course, sometimes Spring (+2f per plantation, +2c per market), sometimes Craftsmen, God of the Sea, etc
3. If I go Tradition then Mastery into Diligence ensures I can construct everything I want whenever I want, if not Tradition then often Diligence + Orders/some structure or Mastery anyway. Mastery is really strong, probably overpoweringly so. I like the Founder belief with Great Altar for bonus faith/GAP per conquered city as well as that neat +5 Production on Holy Sites - basically once you have 20% of the world converted your holy sites are superior manufactures.

(Yes I do love production)

I like Austria, although the new Arabia appeals to me as well.

I usually have good luck with Sun God or Earth Mother, depending on terrain. The one for mountains and Natural Wonders has been useful in certain circumstances.

I usually don't leverage my religion for too much. I spread it to my own cities and not much more.

I generally try most civs and pretty much all beliefs.
I'm way more likely to pick Pagodas than anything else however, mostly because I like them and because they always seems to be left in the pool :D.

For pantheon I've been playing around with Goddes of Wisdom lately(unless a better situation-specific pantheon is available), it not being tied to worker improvements or buildings does help a lot with early expansion and it is pretty damn strong in the long run.

1) My favorite civ is Denmark. Jelling Stones is one of the best unique buildings and the embark speed makes a huge difference in the late game. In the game I've been playing, I pulled off a pretty awesome amphibious invasion with them.
2) I do God of Commerce because in the early game I want to land grab, archer garrison spam, and to get a tech lead that I keep all game. This does the job and then some in combination with Progress.
3) I treat Religion as another Policy. I usually do a Science-Culture-War strategy and I go for Apostalic, Diligence, Thrift, and cheaper Prophets so that the religion feels like having Industry. I always take Aesthetics so I want every great person improvement I can get. I am, however, considering taking a more Military oriented approach for religion so that I can take Industry.

Religion is nice now because it no longer feels like there is an 'optimum choice'. You can tinker much more now.

The Celts in particular are fun with their custom pantheons.

I don't really have any fav civs. All I can say is that I always pick a civ whose UU is not cavalry, since I never use mounted units. Usually the civ of my choice would be the one with either melee or siege UU. pantheon depends on many factors, such as terrain around you and what victory you're aiming for but if I'm too lazy to scroll through options I choose either Commerce or God-King.

I love domination so I usually pick something that helps me win wars. I love spreading my religion elsewhere because affected cities are easier to conquer if picked appropriate beliefs.

I like to go with the Inca. The slingers in the early game devastate most troops coming in, being able to retreat and attack twice from the get go. I like to post them up on a mountain near my city and declare war against the nearest civ. It makes them produce war units instead of settlers, allowing me time to build 2-3 settlers before they do since I play on immortal. To aid with this, I always adopt God of War as a pantheon. Usually I can establish a religeon and enhance it before most ai will even even found one. I'll usually go with piety anyways, so the +1 faith per specialist really evens out the faith game when I'm not at war. I'll get the reformation belief around universities and use the "can buy science buildings with faith" perk. Even on immortal, I'll finish 4-5 techs ahead of everyone else.

Nice religious choices. Should try some time around, since I value science very much and always want to stay ahead of everyone else. What do you do to maintain culture?

If you're out-teching everyone, target wonders in the tree to give you culture bonuses. Also go with archeology to spam archeologists. Take other civs' digs first so they can't get their own. Also requeue so that all culture buildings are built the instant they're available. Not surefire, but I'll at least keep up in culture
