Fave sandwhiches.

Great thread, especially since its lunch time here. Wow, its really hard to pick a favorite. Here are my top 5, in no particular order:

1. Tuna Melt
2. Provolone and prosciutto hero with everything on it
3. Meat loaf cheese and gravy hero.
4. Falafel
5. Chicken or lamb Souvlaki

Talking about food ;)

I just love Portuguese bread with this Portuguese meat:

Presunto -> smoked ham
"chouriço" or "paio" or "salpicão" -> smoked pork sausages
fiambre -> cooked ham

Without tomato or anything else.

Fried serial killer on sponge.

Cappicola, great!

My fave is (hot) chicken with apple and mango chutney. Mushy-crunchy, sweet-sour, hot-cold, rich-sharp, you get all these contrasts in your mouth at once.

Monte Cristo.

And by that I mean a REAL Monte Cristo, not two slabs of french toast with "cheez" sauce and slices of meat in between.

And it must, MUST have powdered sugar sprinkled on the top.

Mmmmmmm... arterial sclero-licious.

I love turkey sandwiches with Genoa salami, lettuce, and Havarti cheese. Havarti is a really soft tangy cheese. I love it! It tastes wonderful with roast beef and Chipotle mayonnaise. Spicy and tangy. Yum! :D

Yeah Pittsburgh! Grew up there, though I prefer the sweet-sausage or double egg and cheese with bacon. However, yinz can't get a Primanti's sandwhich outside of da 'burgh, so in general I'll have to say the 2 sandwhich greats are:

a Rueben for something hearty - corned beef, saurkraut, swiss cheese and russian dressing (mayonaise with a kick) on rye bread.

a classic BLT on wheat toast for something light - bacon, lettuce, tomato, just a touch of mayonaise.

Chicken and stuffing usually, or ham and pineapple :)
