Disregarding UUs and special abitilites, what do you guys think is the best civ? You know, color wise, and city names.

Except for the fact that I don't like the Japanese civ attributes, I'm a fan of that colour green, and just about everything else (UU, city style, etc...).

Actually i find the whole color scheme really screwy because some civs change their colors and some don't.
I've noticed some stuff and if you want to read go ahead:
Zulu- yellow or black
Egypt- yellow
England- orange
France- pink
China- light pink or light blue
America- light blue
Germany- dark blue
Babylon- blue or light red
Rome- light red
Persia- green-blue or light green
Greece- light green
India- purple or grey
Iroquois- purple
Japan- dark red or green
Aztec- green
Russia- brown

All civs have one natural color and some have another one. Wonder why we have it there.

I like Persia. Nice city style and color(both). Like the names too.

Iroquois. Purple.

But you have to Edit out the stupid capital "Salamanca" (are they Spanish???) and substitute the names of the various Iroquois tribes, such as Oneida and Cayuga.

Persian (not when it's green)

*edit* we should make this a poll

I like America; cause I changed the colors with Aztecs (I hate that wimpy turquoise color).

Can you change (Pick) the color for your Civ? In the Editor possibly?
Yes you can B.B.! You have to be careful tho. The game assigns each Civilization a color (Default on the Civilization tab on editor). If that color is already taken, it assigns the Unique color. I know that sounds backwards but that is what the help tab says. The Aztecs had dark green for both colors as did America... so I switched both the unique and default colors (which you can't do, apparently, in 1.17f). Just be careful. If you assign the same default color to 2 Civilizations, I belive the game will crash. Happy Hunting!

Yeah, that sucks... And some colors are quite similar if they are close in the map. When I played Japan in dark red and the babylonians came in light red it was a mess... maybe someone should play in stripes or dots... :) And it took some time to expect the Russians appear not in white...:crazyeye:
BTW I like the dark red or green versions.

Germany, Persia(when blue-green), Japan(when reddish), Babylon(when dark blue),Russia.

Oh and France is just terrific. (but seriously...)

Once I actually played as the Zulus just to see their black colour scheme, it looks so keeewl..... :goodjob:

I'm such a loser.

I like the dark blue :( best (germans) and after that, dark red  .
I hate the light green color  .

I don't like the city names much, but I enjoy naming them myself.
I havn't found a Civ that I really like yet so I'll probably have to modify one.

for those who want to change colors, this is what Dan @ Firaxis posted; I don`t know if that was for 1.16 (it works) or 1.17 (never tried):

I did fix the crash but I don't think I fixed it in time to make it into this patch. However, there is a way for you to avoid the crash. If you look in the Art\Units\Palettes folder, you should see a bunch of files named otp00.pcx-otp15.pcx. If you copy and rename these files so that you have otp00.pcx-otp31.pcx, the game will no longer crash when you change a civ's color.

I like the color of the Greeks and the Aztecs. I am partial to the city states of Greece but do not like the Mecedonian influence. I had almost rather see them as two different Civs.

I play as the Greeks, take the Babylonian's dark-blue color, and add several dozen city names. Can you believe that in the default list of city names for Greece they left out Olympia?!? Not like that city state has any lasting effects on the modern world or anything...
