Favorite modern units

Haven't used them that much yet in 5 but loved jet fighters in 4 and like what I see so far... air superiority is always key!

For me it's Artillery. There's lots of cool, powerful, useful units in the Modern Era. But Artillery is the first set of big guns that can reach out to 3 hexes and are indirect fire. They hit hard and can easily and quickly wear down settlement defenses before sending in the tanks or infantry to face little opposition. Still quite viable even when you can access Rocket Artillery later on.

When I have alot of big guns, I feel alot safer whether on offense or defense.

Mech Inf for straight up versatility and usefulness.

My favorite is heli for its animation.

 

[Snackwell]

Promoted B17s are ridiculously good for taking cities. They have a bonus to begin with, and once you get the additional siege promotions they can knock a city down to 2 health in one turn from a distance, then when your infantry or tanks roll up they can't even hurt you much before you wipe 'em.

Getting promotions with air units seems easy, too, there's always someone else to bomb.

Yeah, those bombers are insane on besieging cities, and their range is huge.
