the famous Dagwood sandwich

easy enough, eh?

my favorite has to be a good and thin cut of roast beef on an Atlantic City hard roll w/ provelone cheese, lettuce, tomoto, onions, and sweet peppers w/ a dash of olive oil and a smidge of red vinegar on the bread :)

non-processed turkey breast could be sub'ed in for the roast beast too :)

and then there's the good 'ole pork roll sangwich on a bagel :yumyum: delicious!

i'll do peanut butter sandwiches at lunch time and on the fly - extra chunky please :)

what're your favorites?
 
Melted cheese with ham in a toast.
 
Shredded slow cooked BBQ beef shoulder.
 
I had an excellent steak sandwich at a restaurant yesterday. Man, that has to be my new favorite sandwich.

Reubens are awesome. I'm sad that so many people think my like for them is crazy.

Rubens are great. I wish more places 'round here sold them.

I like tuna and cucumber. It's a dying breed of sandwich as all the manufacturers switch to adding sweetcorn. I have yet to work out why.
 
Jambon-beurre. Very simple, but does not tolerate mediocrity: if the ham, the butter or the bread are slightly below excellent, the sandwich will suck.

pastrami or corned beef
swiss cheese
saurkraut
rye bread
thousand island dressing
place on griddle for toasting and melting action.

very nice :) was it a type of chip steak or was is like flank steak? i ask b/c i'm curious what they serve or try to pass off to you as a steak sandwich :) i mean, there are some pretty cheap immitations of them outside of the Phila-NJ region.

You can also use Turkey instead of the corned beef.

The rueben is a funny sandwhich. Looking at all those ingredents by themselves, it actually sounds kinda gross. But for some reason, after everything is all melted together, it really is a solid sandwhich.

I love BBQ Pulled Pork (surprisingly good if cheddar is also added), and my famous "everything in the fridge" sandwhich.
 
A good ham and cheese on Rye is great for the simplicity.

I like how it looks. I take what English call French bread over what I call sandwich bread any time. French bread allows more kinds of food to be added in between loaves and still makes a sandwich that doesn't break into pieces while you are holding it. And it tastes better too. (How can you hold the sandwich in the OP's photograph?

So, if I am in a hurry, I would put some loaves of chorizo, the original spanish one, not the mexican stuff. and that would be all. If I wanted to be more ellaborated, then I would drizzle the bread with olive oil, shred some garlic and add a couple of loaves of serrano ham. Similar to the Jambon-beurre, I guess, but with cured ham and olive oil instead of butter.
