So what is your favorite vicotry?

I have only won a Cultural and have yet to see the others.. Curious what I should try for:)

Cultural. On previous games I loved wiping the enemy off the face of the earth, but with more victory conditions available, and me growing up, I tend to lose interest in conquest now.

I love the Cultural victory as well. I am totally not a warmonger. Time is okay with me as well as Diplomacy, but I usually win Cultural long before either of those two.

I'm a big fan of Cultural victory, and I find that makes me love conquest as well. I get ticked when someone declares war on me, so I steamroll through them with extreme violence.

I still haven't finished a game, not because I suck but because I always want to start a new one, try something new, a new civ, a new leader, etc.

I prefer time victories, which seem to suggest a more overall well-rounded civ as opposed to one that dominates a particular area. I'm always bothered by the fact that time victories are scored lower than ones that finish earlier for that reason. A close second would be a cultural victory. Although I've never had one, I almost always lead in culture from early on to the end of the game and that's without trying. If I put some effort into it, I probably could do well with a cultural victory.

I agree. The old tag line for the series was to build a 'Civilization that stands the test of time', but you seem to get penalized for doing exactly that when the scores are given out. Let's face it, any real world civilization that lasts for 6000 years would have to be pretty special.

i really think that time victory is just easier, because you just build and sit there, without doing much. :/

Diplomatic. It is so much harder than any other victory but there is a certain feeling you get from it. some one posted that time is a good one because it is a more well rounded one well diplomatic is aswell because you need to be high up in techs and pop which is hard if you take a complete pacifist role. Remember dead civs cannot vote in the elections.

Conquest cause when I do it... its mostly that the remaining civs pissed me off a lot. So instead of grabing the last 5% to dominate I crush them with a lot of pleasure.... :king:

Cultural victory most be the most rewarding cause IMO its by far the hardest... actually I never won culturally... but I do know that my worst weakness is specialist cities... I dont use them properly!!! in truth I completly suck at it.... if you can kill anything with it, its not fun enough to bother :crazyeye:

Space victory are more there to make you lose... it totally unfun... and the only way AI wins...

Diplomatic is another version of domination: most of the time you would be a turn or two off a domination, cause you praticly(something wrong about that word) have to vote yourself the victor.

Domination is the normal way to win!!! and time is hard to get cause I dont remember one game that I didnt dominate OR that AI didnt built spaceship by 2050 or that I didnt quit by then :mischief: !!!!

I am currently trying for a Domination victory. I have tried once before but found the same problem. I am at 52% land or so and need 65% or something....
However, I have clearly been the winner since I was at about 40%.

I find I never reach the Domination vicotry (was same in Civ 3) cause it requires so many turns after which I am clearly the victor and there is no competition.
I even find myself giving all of my techs and massive resources away just to make a little entertainment. what fun is invading with tanks against Macemen?? I mean sure.. maybe aat first it is funny... but after you destory them you are hoping for some other civ to compete with you.

I guess my point is I think the victory for it should happen sooner. I just hope this weekend I have the patience to finish the game off so I can atleast see the vid and have the victory once.

I allways play without cultural, its simply too easy to win that way

Anything other than conquest or domination doesn't even feel like a victory to me. The only reason i even leave the other conditions on is to give the AI a chance because it sucks at waging war.

Domination seems to occur the most. Had only one Cultural victory so far and was bore out of my mind for the last 100 turns.

in a weird sort of way, it makes me smile when i win diplomatically. i guess it's funny to have people agree that you should win, or having enough population to be able to vote yourself winner.

@Oni

You should play a harder difficulty level. That way you will be fighting against the same age units (if not better) as you are using right to the end of the game. I agree that it may be tougher in the beginning, but that makes it fun, right? Also, the higher difficulty level you play the better score you get when you do win.
