This is dubious at best, especially the part about whipping up an army BEFORE going to police state.
Oh, nothing dubious about it. I'm pretty positive I'll be doing it. And I ain't lying. Perhaps I worded this incorrectly... I'll be going into Police State in order to whip up a nice army and take over the Kulu Shaka's land
Little surprised Angkor Wat only got 2 vote.
And should there be a difference for fav wonder captured and fav wonder built?
Coz Mids is much better captured imo.
I thought ToA gets GM/GP points. Parthenon is the one gets GA point, no?
GM/GP each has it's strong gambits.
When I'm running specialists, if I don't have any holy cities I almost never run a priest specialist.
My bad, you're right. Great Merchant... well that's not as bad (artist bleh!), and I like both GrProphets and GrMerchants, but TBH, I still can't see this as a wonder that stands above (or even) with the rest. Since the thread is your favorite wonder, I was just curious as to why TMIT likes ToA so much.
No Three Gorges Dam?!?! It's so awesome.
The reason why I rush all the way from middle ages to plastics.
It's good, but I tend to have power by the time it comes up anyway
Comes too late for me to care.
Too far into winning by the time Plastics is researched to care about TGD. Great for SS vic, but usually a military victory can be gotten without it.
Obviously the powerful ones: AP and GLH
All of the wonders are sistuational, but I voted for Pyramids, GLH, GL and Space Elevator as the three first are useful in many games and the last one is really helpful for space race and sometimes it even wins the game for you.
Spiral Minaret deserves a special mention as in those rare cases I have a strong national religion and I can get my hands on it, it really helps my economy.
If you are a warmongerer, you probably run Theocracy, so you have a lot of religious cities, so the Spiral Minaret has the potential to make a lot of money
I've played lots and lots of games (on Prince and Monarch) but have yet to build The Great Library. I find that by that stage of the game I press on for Liberalism. I voted for GLH.
The Taj Mahal
The Hanging Gardens sometimes lead to starvation when I have Citizen Automation on and the AI uses the extra man to be a specialist where there is only an equilibrium in health-sickness, and so in total we lose one point of food (a health point just keep off losing food, so can be equated to a point)
You're pressing for liberalism right after aesthetics so you skip literature? Skipping a tech that's pretty cheap and leads to National Epic (for more GP) and NOT trying to build the Great Library seems like it would hurt your Lib race more than help it. Literature is no where near Liberalism in my games and you can basically chop the Great Library and get it almost every time (as the AI generally don't beeline for it).
2 free scientists (especially in your GP Farm/Super Science city) can only help you in the Lib race IMO. I think you should give it a try next time.
AP and Stonehenge are both wonders I usually build. AP is maybe more important if I have to rate these two. Oracle is nice too but it wasn't on the list.
I Like the AP, but it annoys me for a while after I build it.
Angkor Wat is quite good in that it is only obsoleted by very late in the game. University of Sankore is quite good to and I also like the Spiral Minaret for extra money.
Great Library is a must haver on emperor+!
I'm surprised Great Library is so high, I never build it.
The wonders I go for are GLH, Colossus, West Point, and Eiffel Tower. Sometimes The Great Wall.
