Well, sort of after my first game since I decided I needed to start again at a higher difficulty level, but thats for another post.
Anyway, heres a few things I would like to see added/fixed in upcoming patches, as well as a couple of questions. Submitted with all due respect (something that seems in short supply in these forums of late) and in no particular order:
No Multiplayer Hotseat
Say what now? My heart sank when I saw this was not part of CiV, and I hope to see the mode included once again - soon. Had I known this was not an option I probably would have held off on my purchase until it was.
User Interface Resizing Option
While my eyesight isnt 20/20 anymore, I also dont need cokebottle glasses to read. The UI boxes/buttons strike me as almost comically large, and seem to take up way too much monitor real estate during the game (especially the mini-map). I could easily get by with them at half the size they currently are. Perhaps future updates could offer some sort of resize/reposition options. It would be greatly appreciated.
Multi-Turn Unit Movement
This needs to be tweaked to make it less cumbersome. If I want to send unit A on a 5 turn march and the target hex is already occupied by unit B (who I know will be long gone by the time A arrives there) it cannot be done you are forced to select another target hex. Would it not make more sense to pick any target hex, have A get as close as it can, then request new orders if its destination is still blocked when it gets close? It would really streamline moving large numbers of troops cross-country, IMHO.
Use Gold To Complete Units Already In Production
I like the fact that if you have the funds you can instantly buy a Unit with zero production delay. Why then cant you do the same with something that a city has already started working on in the queue? For example, lets say I have a city producing a Spearman, and it has four more turns left before it is built. If I have enough gold I can churn out a new troop every turn in that same city, but my Spearman in queue is stuck there and cant be sped up by any means that I could find. Odd.
What Happens When You Lose A Wonder Race?
I was working on The Oracle (2 turns away from completion) and another Civ beat me to it. I had the alert that The Oracle has been built in a far-away Land, then the city I was trying to build it in just prompted me for my next production pick with the message Oracle Completed. Did I get some kind of gold refund for my lost production? I saw no message to that effect. Just curious if the time spent trying to build the wonder was a waste or not.
Fortify Until Healed How Long?
When setting a damaged unit to rest until it heals, is there any way to tell how many turns it will take before they are back to full strength? I have not yet been able to figure out how, so if someone knows kindly clue me in.
And In The Beating A Dead Horse Department
*Map scrolling problems on Dual Monitor systems.
*The Intro Movie controversy (without having to edit .INI files just a mouse click that shuts it off and presents a nice little loading bar or something).
*Wonder/Victory Videos, or the lack thereof. Bring them back please.
*And last but not least the AI. I am withholding further comment until I play at higher levels, but I will say that I have a bad feeling about this so far. I hope I am wrong.
Overall I am enjoying the game, though I did purchase it under the assumption that there would be kinks to be worked out post-launch. This is just my way of giving some feedback on what I've seen so far. Thanks for reading.
