This thread isn't about mods or graphics or whatnot as much as it is about creating a map. I've looked around the forums, and I've noticed that no matter where I've looked, I cannot find a map of Final Fantasy V. I decided I'd try and make one myself, but there are two problems. I've never made a map by scratch before, and I can't find the right proportions and am having a problem shaping the continents right. Is there any advice you guys have?

Problem. The map doesn't want to open properly. When it does open, it says it's "not a proper Civ III scenario file." It shows absolutely nothing. Is there a way to fix this or get around it?

I've worked on the base map for about 2 hours so far. I'm going to give it a trial run. I looked at the actual map, and I still have quite a bit to go if I want to shape it exactly the way I want it. I added forests, more mountains, reshaped the little island in the middle, attached the little archipelago (like in world 3 of FFV), reshaped North Mountain, terraformed (or at least ATTEMPTED to) Walse, and reshaped the Tycoon area. Am I missing anything? Oh, before I forget, I would like to thank Shiro for giving me a base idea to work with. Thanks, Shiro. :)

On my machine it's shift + print screen to put it on the clipboard, then I open it in GIMP and crop it. I can then save it on my machine as a jpg, then save it as an attachment (click the 'paperclip' in the advanced screen).

Click on the spot where you want it to go, like here: View attachment 305412

And you're done. If you want to put a full-size image in a thread, open an account at an image-warehouse site, like imageshack or photobucket. You can use that little yellow box in the advanced posting menu to link to it directly:
