So, which team do you support/ think will win?

Greece is the defending euro champion, but Spain is also a favourite. The two teams last met in the World cup final in Japan, and Greece did not do well then although it had just kicked USA out.

hey hey, venezuela is becoming a better team. in 10 or so years they'll be alot better.

Ok, the Euro 2007 starts soon

Greece is in the group of death, along with Serbia, Russia and Israel.

Here are the groups:

Group A

Israel
Serbia
Russia
Greece

Group B

Portugal
Latvia
Croatia
Spain

Group C

Czech Repuplic

Lithuania
Germany

Group D

Poland
Italy
Slovenia
France

The games advance as follows:

Group E

A1
A2
A3

And then:

E1 vs F4 - F2 vs E3, and the winners play each other to reach the semi-final
E2 vs F3, F1 vs E4, same

And the winners of those meet in the final.

So for group A i think that Greece will definately be in the first three, although it has a horrible record against serbian teams, and games against Russia ussually are very difficult as well. Israel would appear to be the weakest link.

Also group E probably will consist of Greece, Russia, Serbia, Latvia Croatia and Spain. Since only four teams qualify again it will be the hardest group, but Latvia and Croatia at least on paper appear to be the weakest.

I couldnt know the answer to that one

However i do know that tonight the second stage of the Eurobasket has been concluded, and there are only 8 teams left. They will play knock-out games in the following days.

The match-ups are:

Spain-Germany

Russia-France

Greece-Slovenia

Croatia-Lithuania

The most likely winners would be Spain, Russia, Lithuania, and hopefully Greece

Portugal won a couple of games. Amazing stuff for such a minnow basketball nation.

I think Spain is clearly the best team, and my guess is they're gonna win it in the end.

So Greece still has a shot at defending its title as the cup holder

Although Slovenia was never that good of a team, it was leading by 16 points with 5 minutes to go, and 12 points with 2.30 min.. But somehow Greece managed to win by 1

Semi finals are:

Russia v Lithuania

and

Greece v Spain

Final result:

Russia won first place, for the first time after it was united as the USSR (and obviously had a lot more players to choose from).

The last couple of minutes were incredible. Actually, the last 2.37 sec (IIRC) were incredible: that Gasol ball almost hit the jackpot). I think Spain allowed the pressure of the public and being being favourites to take control of them.
