File download: search.js

Every time a new page loads on the civfreaks.com site (doesnt matter where, here at the forums or at the main page) a screen opens with the question if I want to download the file "search.js"
. It's a JScript Script file from "pagead.googlesyndication.com" ??

It's only on this site and it's pretty annoying tbh, I tried to accept it once and downloaded into c:\ to see if that would stop it but it still kept asking me if I want to download it every time I load a new page... :/

Anyone else have this?

i have a pop-up blocker, so i never see anything. but iv never heard of this...

I got a popupblocker too, one of the best probably, the proximotron and I never have any problems with popups whatsoever, neither here or anywhere else. But this screen that keeps poppin up isnt a popup, its a question where I want to save this file "search.js" like I clicked a download link or right-click and save-as....

This was I all found using Google's search on the URL.

It appears to be ad related. What are your computer's Java setings?

Also, I never have had this anywhere else, and its really really starting to annoy me to the point where I just dont want to visit this place anymore because I have to press cancel every time even tho this place is really usefull to me.

Hmm. Go to Tools/Internet Options/Security, click on Restricted Sites. This will turn on the Sites buttons. Click on it. Add googlesyndication.com. This should block those adds. You might have to put the 'pagead' in front of googlesyndication.com.

Thats what I get now, after adding that line to restricted sites, so now I have to press "ok" all the time.

Interesting. . . I blocked Gator and another one, don't recall it off the top of my head, and I don't even see those download messages any more.

Might as well back the changes out, since it's not saving you anything. Sorry. . . thought that would help.

You could try going the other way and putting it on your trusted sites list.
