I am going to finally pick up Civ3 this weekend and needed some advice. I know there is the Civlopedia and Tutorial but I was hoping someone had a "Idiots Guide for Civ3 Newbs" that they could recommend. I never played the first 2 civs but am familiar with the workings of the game slightly because a good friend from work was big into Civ2. Thanks in advance.

Be prepare to spend lots of time;) i suggest read the instruction manual, then play a few hour on chieftain level, then come back here on this site and read the war academy( home page under civ 3). then try again good luck.

I have heard a lot of good things about the War Academy. I will start looking at it now while I am wasting time at work. :)

If you're paying more than $40 for it you are getting stuck.

Personally, I think $19.95 would be steep.

don't!! read anything here. Find it all out for yourself. Much
more fun, believe me.

and i'm not beeing sarcastic:D

well at least not any (fullproof) strategies threads

alva is nearly right, but you should be allowed to ask for help...

Corruption is not a problem until you are a good player and have titanic empires. Just build the cities, they will be useful someday.

Try a One City Challenge on warlord or chieftain. Its good practice for diplomacy, since there is nothing else to do in the turns.

Have fun. Play a religious Civ.
