First shadow game - Emperor - Gilgamesh of Sumeria

Turn 133. Got a great start! Will post a recap but a quick question - how do you hide text in "Spoiler" in this forum? Don't want to ruin something for those who are playing along.

]I think I managed to get my best start ever at Emperor. Please, if you will review and give feedback from my save file.

My early tech-strategy was Fishing - Mining - and Bronze Working - Pottery. I think that was a good plan for my cities was quickly up and running. I did use many workers (that is why there are so many roads in my save file - I just had the spare time :) )

To my initial horror there was no copper and no horses. And I knew that without Vultures - no St Petersburg! So I went for Iron Working very early in hope for Iron, that payed off!

Main early strategi was to use the abundant sea food to grow, and I also noticed the stone to the west. That in conjunction with rich forrests gave me the idea to try for the Pyramids. It payed off, and I noticed Peter was very close with St Petersburg. I had so little room to expand beyond three cities, so I decided to go for construction and use the Vultures to take St Petersburg.

I pulled that off, and further (to my great joy!) Peter finished the Great Lighthouse in Moscow - My mind was set to take it!

Now I am thinking...whats the plan - I have St Petersburg and I have Moscow with the GLH....playing on! Fun map.

Spoiler :

You literally did the exact same thing as I did - except my game got a little more complicated because I got Immortal-decced by Cyrus and lost Eridu a couple of times. I also did an IW beeline to prepare to Construction rush Pete. But yeah you are looking golden (and this is a really really strong scaling setup, you just need to figure out the early game). The only bad news is there's a Buddhist love fest and both Justin/Charlie are fanatics. In my game I believe Justin was running his own religion which made things easier.

Check to see if there's a potential 7th city spot to the W of Moscow. Then just kiss up to Mansa to trade techs and go for Cuir breakout on Cyrus.

Turn 134-242 update. Heading towards a domination victory. Decided to go after Cyrus immediately after Peter. My scouts noted that Cyrus only had a few of his unique unit horses and I had my horse archers, Vultures and pleny of Trebs. My offense towards Cyrus was succesfull and the train kept on rolling.

But I must admit I have had plenty of luck. And I feel that it may be the cause of my good game.
1. Peter finnishing the GLH.
2. Joao capitulating so easy - even though he had rifling and I had Guild - this really sealed it.
3. Mansa for building the AP in a sitting duck city.
4. Lucky in trade deals
