I am new here and i just wanted to say i love it first of all, its a really nice site. Thanks to the tutorials i can now use the editor for more than just making my own maps.

I have a question though...about the regular game conquests expansion...

AI will go on my territory but if i ask them to leave, no matter how much stronger i am, they usually declare war instead. Is this a bug or just bad strategy programmed into them? Thank you all for your help.

its weird cause sometimes they will back down...which makes me think they get pissed and stubborn at some point. Crazy.

I think on higher levels if you are 'forcing' another nation to get off your land they will almost always declare war on you. However, on lower levels it tends to be closer to fifty-fifty.

Nations that you have attacked in the past or nations with which you have a bad rep are more likely to attack you.

To avoid them attacking you, you could always sign a right of passage...although somteims those are more trouble than they are worth.

If they go in your territory, blockcade them. Put 8 units (workers, scouts, warriors, anything) in the tiles surrounding the unit(s). That way, they can't go anywhere.

But like Moss said, the higher the level, the angrier they will be - if your army really is a lot stronger then them, the chances *will* be lower, but maybe not noticeable.

What I like to do with these is funnel them somewhere to keep so that they are useless, require unit support, and I can release them whenever I think the civ they belong to is gonna get killed.

Welcome, cantstopme!

Weird. At first _I thought_ this was a thread of a new timer that's beed added to the forums to calculate the time people spend here...

Something like that sent to my boss... Yikes!

Edit: clumsy stupid me...

Of course, Sod's Law says that when you are trying to provoke them into a war, they will meekly apologise and leave.

And your 8 units can't go anywhere... :(

It does not seem feesable, eh?

You can use it to your advantage:

They will declare war if they feel superior to you, and retreat if they feel inferior.

This is best determined by the military advisor screen: Strong, Average, Weak (F3)

Often you are stronger even if you are the "weak" one. Then simply ask them to leave, so that THEY declare war.

You get the benefit of happier citizens and the blame for warmongering goes to the enemy nation.

It's more likely to do it in the Industrial Age when you have railroads, so your units don't take up movement points. If you build 8 quick workers from cities that produce a lot and are around size 12, it won't affect you that much.

I would only do it when the AI has a *HUGE* stack. If it's split into smaller stacks, I won't do it. But yes, in the early game when shields are critical, don't do it.
